NASA has just found water on Mars, showing once again that we are truly at the height of human ingenuity and exploration. The human brain is capable of accomplishing (and, to be fair, making terrible) many things, but how much do you know about your own grey matter? 1. Your brain uses 20% of the oxygen in your body.

4. By the age of 7, our brains are 95 percent of their adult size.

Over the past 20,000 years, the average brain has lost volume, roughly the amount taken up by a tennis ball. Some authorities believe this is due to more efficient wiring in the brain, and not a sign that our species is getting dumber.
