2. Crocosaurus Cove

This park, located in Darwin, Australia, gives visitors a very up-close view of one of the world’s deadliest animals. Go down into the “Cage of Death” and see the 20-foot saltwater crocodiles swimming around you. It may be the closest thing to Jurassic Park in the world.

3.  Nagashima Spa Land

This Japanese theme park is one of the most popular theme parks in the world, and it has one of the largest Ferris wheels in the world, the Aurora Wheel. And don’t forget the Steel Dragon, which, at 2500 meters, is the world’s longest roller coaster!

4. Carowinds

The “thrill capital of the Southeast,” Carowinds is on the border of North and South Carolina; it’s also home to one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the United States: Intimidator. With a 232-foot drop and top speed of 130 kilometers per hour, it’s been a staple for thrill seekers since 2010.

5. Canada’s Wonderland

This theme park in Vaughn, Ontario, is the largest theme park in Canada. It’s only behind Six Flags Magic Mountain for hosting the most roller coasters in an amusement park, with sixteen. The two fastest coasters, the Leviathan and the Behemoth, are quickly becoming rites of passage for young Canadians: at a height of 306 feet, Leviathan is the eighth fastest and eighth tallest coaster in the world

This theme park in Surrey, UK, is the home of Colossus, a ride with a world-record ten inversions. Should you dare try it, hold your barf bag very closely.

8. Heide Park

This park near Hamburg, Germany, has the tallest drop tower in the world: Scream is 103 meters tall. But you won’t be able to enjoy the view for long: you’ll be back on the ground in 2.4 seconds.

9. Brazilian Washuzan Highland Park

This is essentially a stereotypical Japanese game show, but in a theme park. Note there is no real clear connection to Brazil at all, seeing as the park is in Okayama, Japan.
The main attraction here is the Sky Cycle, which looks kind of terrifying: riders peddle a tandem bicycle overlooking the whole park. It’s a magnificent view, but the rickety look of the ride makes everything a bit scary.

10. Ferrari World

The largest indoor theme park in the world, this Dubai theme park is basically an homage to the excess of the oil kingdom of the United Arab Emirates. The fastest roller coaster in the world is also here: the Formula Rossa has a top speed of 240 kilometres per hour.

11. Dreamworld

This park in Gold Coast, Australia, once held the record for tallest and fastest coaster in the world. It was the Tower of Terror II and it’s 377 feet tall and hits a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Now it’s only fourth fastest, but the ride is still known as a terrifying experience.

Kent, England’s Dickens World is meant to transport visitors back to Victorian times and into the works of Charles Dickens. It’s straight-up weird, but if you’re a book nerd, you’ll be in heaven!

13. Dollywood

This theme park is owned by and devoted to the legendary country singer Dolly Parton. It’s one of the biggest tourist attractions in Tennessee, and is even breaking some ground: the Wild Eagle is the first wing coaster in the United States, where riders are seated along the side and suspended over the ground.

The largest theme park in Iran, its attractions include a zoo, a lake where you can barefoot water ski, and a roller coaster where you’re riding in a soda can. CNN calls it one of the scariest rides in the world, owing to its hairpin turns.

15. Silver Dollar City

Jefferson City, Missouri’s Silver Dollar City is an old-timey amusement park, but it’s got a few tricks up its sleeve. Like Outlaw Run: the first wooden roller coaster to feature a double barrel roll. It’s also got the steepest drop of any wooden coaster in the world. Rider beware.

16. Tokyo DisneySea

This was the fastest theme park to host 10 million visitors, attracting that many people in only 307 days. It’s not hard to see why with its roster of rides; the slot car ride Journey to the Center of the Earth is completely immersive, and has been called one of the world’s best themed rides.
