Deep fried pineapple isn’t only an American thing. We have that in Australia, and they are called Pineapple Fritters. They are slices of (usually) canned pineapple, battered, deep fried, and often served with hot chips. Hot chips are just like french fries but thicker. Not to be confused with potato wedges which are usually potatoes sliced long that retain the skin and curved shape and often spiced/seasoned.
Interesting that deep fried avocado made it onto the list. That’s starting to become more popular here as well. You can get hot chips with a burger, and in some places sweet potato chips instead, and now avocado chips… although they are more tempura style with a lighter batter than the picture here.
