4 Of The Most Ridiculous (And Successful) Crowdfunding Campaigns Ever
The Jealous Guy Who Used GoFundMe to Crash His Girlfriend’s Spring Break
A 25-year-old Maryland man named Azel Prather, Jr. created a GoFundMe campaign titled “Save My Relationship” in order to crash his 22-year-old girlfriend’s Spring Break. She had gone to Miami with her girlfriends, and he claimed that if he didn’t raise the money to go after her and chaperone her, she’d cheat on him with other guys.
Kurt Braunohler’s Cloud Project
Kurt Braunohler’s Cloud Project’s goal was to “hire a man to write stupid things with clouds in the sky”. Kurt’s campaign exceeded expectations, and he was able to write all kinds of things in the sky such as “Clouds 4 EVA”, “God’s Fartin’”, and “How do I land?”
Crystal Bacon Art
Greg Kiesow loves bacon so much that he started a Kickstarter campaign to create a “sculptural tribute to the most delicious of all meats, bacon”. America opened their wallets to his call, and the result was a batch of acrylic plastic bacon art with the appearance of fine crystal. The bacon art can be made into jewelry, Christmas ornaments, and anything your wrapped-in-bacon heart desires.
Anthony Weintraub launched his “Menurkey” campaign in order to create a menorah-turkey combination to celebrate the “once in an eternity event” when Hanukkah and Thanksgiving overlapped on November 28, 2013. The Menurkey is still available for purchase today, by the way, despite the fact that these holidays will never again overlap for the rest of eternity. #Kosher
