There’s a good chance we all know an addict. No, not someone who can’t get off drugs or booze, but someone addicted to normal, everyday stuff. Whether these addictions are really bad may all be how you look at it, but we’ve compiled a short list of the most addictive things that are okay with cops, if not your therapist.

5. Cigarettes

It’s the nicotine inside cigarettes that really hooks ya. The monkey on your back loves this highly-addictive substance and is the reason why smoking is such a difficult habit to shake. It’s hard to imagine getting hooked on smelling like a bowling alley, but according to the CDC, every day more than 3,200 people younger than 18 smoke their first cigarette. Just remember, the Marlboro Man got lung cancer.

4. Gambling

Jesus toe-tapping Christ is winning ever fun! But here’s the rub — some people so enjoy participating in a game of chance with hopes of winning money that it becomes a compulsive. To kick the habit, some people require cognitive behavioral therapy, and that doesn’t sound like fun. Sorry dudes … men are more likely to develop a gambling problem than women.

3. The Internet

Hopefully you’re not just reading this article to get your daily fix. We all use the Internet to connect with friends, manage our finances, and get off, but your use turns into internet addiction when you feel the need to be online all the time. If you feel anxious or upset if you can’t surf in cyberspace, it may be time to call a therapist, because you’re hooked. FUN FACT: In China, 6.0% of internet users aged 13-18 are addicted.

2. Video Games

When’s the last time you saw a real human being? Video game addicts play to the extent that it begins to impact their daily lives. It’s been found that the most addictive video games are ones in which players are able to interact online with other players. It obviously becomes a problem when you begin to smell like a farm animal and stop eating healthy.

1. Food

While we all need food to survive, an addict is unable to control their eating and uses food to deal with feelings of sadness, depression, or anxiety. Chocolate, coffee, pizza, sugar — an addict will binge on them all. Of course, stuff with caffeine and sugar are highly addictive on their own, but combine that with an eating disorder and you have a yummy recipe for trouble.
