5 Times People Had Bizarre Excuses For Their Crimes

We’ve all tried to lie our way out of something, and if you have a good excuse and you’re convincing enough, you can get away with almost anything! Unless, of course, the thing you’re trying to get out of is a serious crime — then your best defense is a lawyer and some good old fashioned pleading the fifth! Apparently the following five criminals never got the memo, because their excuses/reasons for their crimes are… “special”… Here are some excuses for crime that left us baffled.

The Cat Did It!

A Florida man named Keith Griffin, 48, was confronted by detectives who found that he’d downloaded over 1,000 pictures of child pornography. Griffin’s excuse for the pictures was that whenever he left his office after downloading music, he’d return to find the “strange images” on his computer, and his cat at the keyboard. That’s right, the man tried to blame his child porn on the cat… and he got away with it!! (JK he in jail now.)

She Was Looking For Members of Isis!

A woman named Lisa Carol Roche was arrested for stealing items from students’ cars at a high school in Mississippi, but she explained to cops that she was simply being a good samaritan and looking for members of Isis. In students’ cars. In Mississippi. She didn’t find any terrorists, but she did find a bunch of “evidence” (things to steal) that she took into personal custody (stole).

Prostitutes Know Where to Buy the Best Tomatoes!

In 2013, UK police saw a known sex worker waiting inside a car, while the man who owned the car, Muhammad Ikhlaq, was getting cash from a nearby ATM. When the police questioned him, Ikhlaq explained that the money was for tomatoes and that the female sex worker was going to show him a good place to buy them. The cops (shockingly) didn’t buy it, and he was fined $400 for soliciting, and never found out where those sexy tomatoes were 🙁

It Was For the Batman Movie!

Micah Calamosca, 21, tried to carjack another man’s Chevrolet Impala in Pittsburgh in 2011. Unfortunately for him, the car’s owner was a police detective, who caught him and arrested him on the spot. Micah explained to the detective that The Dark Knight Rises was being filmed nearby (just 250 miles away), and that he was taking the car because he was involved with the filmmaking and it was part of the film’s story. This turned out to be a bizarre twist ending that, for once, Christopher Nolan didn’t write!

Craigslist Said it Was Okay!

In 2011, couple Charles and Pernella Bull were arrested for burglarizing a home in Minnesota. The homeowner said she was putting her kids to bed when she heard someone downstairs, and discovered the couple running out her back door. They had stolen a tool box, a laptop computer, a desktop computer, various tools and wires and a large blue duffel bag containing a woman’s purse and other items. The couple told police that a “friend” said the house had been listed as “free” in a Craigslist ad, so they figured it was okay to just go in and start taking stuff. Just to be sure, cops checked Craigslist and found no such ad. What a terrible friend! Must have been the wrong address…
