Myth: If you’ve swallowed poison, you should induce vomiting.

If you swallowed poison, you’d want it out of your stomach immediately, right? Well, unless your doctor tells you to, you’re actually better off not trying to uh, expel it.

Think about it: most poisons are acidic or alkaline, and you stomach is full of acid anyway—it might be able to deal with a poison. But if you try to vomit it up, your throat and lungs…not so much.
