6 Controversial Tweets By Celebrities They Immediately Regretted

We’ve all probably said things on Twitter that we’ve regretted even when they’re just silly or dumb! Only when a celebrity says something offensive, everyone takes notice. We have the option of quietly deleting before people screen grab. At least I hope. The following celebrities found out the hard way that not all hot takes are so hot. People on Twitter are just waiting to ratio you. SO BEWARE!

Kanye West

Kanye saying something controversial? I know, hard to believe. But even for Kanye, making a tweet saying Bill Cosby was innocent was kind of beyond the pale. People came down hard on Kanye, even other celebs. I mean it’s one thing to support someone, but declaring him innocent? A lot has changed this year though, and hopefully people are more aware that it’s important to listen to victims.

Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks is also no stranger to controversy, but she really crossed a line when she made racist remarks about Zayn Malik on Twitter, eventually getting banned form the platform. That rant against Zayn’s Pakistani heritage also got her booted from a big music festival as well. Azealia is SO talented!! I think we all hope she gets her act together and focuses on making music rather than homophobic/racist remarks.

Chrissy Teigen

While Chrissy was trying to make a point about the out of control gun violence in the US, people took it as her minimizing the tragedy that happened in Ottawa. But the people went next level troll and started sending death threats to the model mom, and she quit Twitter shortly after. As with every public announcement of a Twitter departure, Chrissy returned. And the world is better for it.

Josh Groban

We all remember Mariah Carey’s disastrous NYE performance, when she was clearly lip syncing and just…a mess. Josh subtweeted her HARD, “Any time one of the greatest voices of my generation lip syncs an angel loses its wings.” Ooof. He quickly deleted it, after suffering a bit of backlash, and apologized profusely. We forgive you, dork.

Justin Timberlake

Justin’s Tweet seemed innocent enough, he was just giving props to Jesse Williams’s speech at the BET Awards, but it lead to a whole big mess of a kerfuffle. When a Twitter user accused him of cultural appropriation and not standing up for Janet Jackson, rather than let things cool down, he responded with “Oh, you sweet soul. The more you realize that we are the same, the more we can have a conversation. Bye.” Let the Twitter dragging begin! He eventually apologized, but the damage was done.

Skrillex

Ooof. This was a super dumb one. Like seriously, what was Skrillex thinking? I mean ALOUD? Ugh. KIDDING! Sure the spelling crime was insane, but what a demented wish. Skrillex needs to be grateful for the fact that anyone listend to his music at all.
