Shia LaBeouf had a pretty straightforward trajectory for a Disney child star, until recently when, like so many Disney stars before him, he changed. Aside from acting in the occasional film here and there (hi one person on Smoshpit.com who watchedNymphomaniac, for everyone else carry on), this Transformer, actor in disguise (eke!) insists on doing art projects that we can’t for the life of us understand. While they all feel like publicity stunts meant to tie into an upcoming flick, they’re apparently not. Here are some of the random things besides acting that Shia LaBeouf feels compelled to do.

In 2015, Shia LaBeouf had a marathon movie screening of all his films. Excuse me, in 2015 Shia LaBeouf did a piece of performance art where he invited visitors to join him in watching “…all his movies consecutively in reverse chronological order”. We’re not sure of the intended effect of this, but the live-streamed “performance” spawned lots of great Shia LaGifs. (That’s not a good pun, you say? Yes, you’re right.)

Hitchhiking for “Art”

This month, LaBeouf will be traveling the country as part his #TakeMeAnywhere performance art piece. Here’s the idea: you can find Shia using the GPS coordinates he tweets or by going to his #TakeMeAnywhere website. If you find him, you can take him anywhere you want. So far he’s been in Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania and a whole bunch of other places just “making friends” and “finding meaning” in life, according to Time. In one meetup with fans, LaBeouf referred to himself as a mirror wanting to put out good so that good would reflect back on him.

“Elastic Heart”

Yup, we’ve all seen the video. People are still commenting on it with such intelligent contributions as: “isnt she like 13? she looks like that girl from dance moms”. That was posted literally 33 minutes ago as I write this in June of 2016. We would give a used BluRay copy of Transformers to know how Shia LaBeouf ended up in that music video. We’re assuming there’s a Facebook messenger group for celebs to swap obsessed-fan horror stories and sees who’s down for a random music video appearance.

#TouchMyHeart

Shia LaBeouf and his frequent art project collaborators Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner sat in a gallery in Liverpool for four days from 11am-6pm to field calls from around the world. Together the collective spoke with over one thousand people. The public was able to watch this all take place through live stream and through live right-in-front-of-you real life stream. I don’t get it (and please, please tell me if you do).

LaBeouf sat in an LA gallery and allowed visitors one by one to come in to an empty room with him and just… well… it’s not exactly clear. Wearing a bag over his head stating “I am not famous anymore” and in full tux attire, Shia would silently sit there. A few visitors stated that he was crying under the bag. What does it all mean?!

Hour Long Silent Interview

#INTERVIEW from LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner on Vimeo.

For a Dazed magazine story in 2014, our favorite hole-digger (memba Holes??) filmed an hour-long sit-down interview with a writer while they both wore GoPros on their heads. My mind is thoroughly boggled as I do not have the proper art words to describe what this was supposed to achieve. Or maybe art isn’t supposed to “achieve” anything and we’re merely pawns in this game called life, destined to flounder into the abyss until our final slumber.
