The very premise of the show Catfish pretty much demands that every episode has a surprising reveal. I mean the whole point of the show is that people were fooled in some way, the only questions is, how much? But some episodes stand out even amongst all the craziness. Here’s a look at 8 of the most memorable catfishes ever.
Kayla and Courtney
Just when you were bored with run-of-the-mill catfishes, where people just aren’t who they say they are, we get this episode. A woman named Courtney claims she is communicating with a woman named Kayla’s dead dad. And this isn’t a case where Courtney is like, “You never said you were a ghost!” She knows. This episode is so chock full of crazy sh*t, but perhaps the craziest thing of all is that Kayla and Kayla’s family believe Courtney. I give up, people.
Rob and Ebony
Okay, we’ve seen catfishes where the sex of the person catfishing isn’t what they claim it is. So if you’re a straight guy who thinks you’re talking to a woman who turns out to be a gay man, it makes sense you might not be interested. But Rob is a whole other deal. He found Ebony, a woman “with the same stuff” he had. It seemed perfect since Rob was still confused about his sexuality. When Ebony turned out to not have the same stuff as Rob though, he had some clarity. He wanted to be with a man. So part catfish part successful coming out story, I guess.
Jasmine and Mike
Revenge catfishes are my faves. Jasmine fell in love with a guy named Mike, but Mike turned out to be he ex-friend Mhissy. Yeah, that’s not a typo, it’s really spelled that way.
When Mhissy found out that Jasmine and her we’re sexting the same guy, she started posing as Mike so she could have him all to herself. GENIUS. The best part of it all is how Mhissy did not give a single EFF about what she had done. This is the kind of petty attitude I totally respect.
Kelly and Carmen
This one is bonkers so try and follow, it’s like the Inception of Catfishes. A woman named Carmen wanted to help her cousin Antwane find ot the truth about his online love Tony.
Come to find out, Carmen WAS Tony. Her reason for duping her cuz? He’d once called her “fat-ass Kelly Price” in front of a group of people. And I die forever over this long con. Good girl. You are a hero.
Anthony and Marq
Marq went all out NOT to meet the guy he was catfishing, going so far to claim he was car jacked and then run over by his own car on the way to their first meeting. But Anthony was madly in love with ‘male model’ ‘Marq,’ and by the use of all my sarcastic quotes, you probably already guessed, Marq wasn’t who he claimed to be. He was really a fat guy with a missing tooth. Anthony was like, “Naaaaaaaah!” So much for true love!
Artis and Jeff
Oh Lord, this one might be my fave. So after Artis dumps his girl and their three kids to meet Jess, he finds out Jess is actually a hillbilly named Jeff. Turns out Jeff was trying to show Artis how wrong it was to cheat. Um, okay. The kicker though? Jeff might not have been too concerned about Artis’s morals. He might have actually been interested in him. Jeff’s “aha!” moment that he might be gay is one of the all time best Catfish moments ever and that’s saying something.
Keyonnah and Dee Pimping
Okay of all the episodes, this one probably got the most attention, since it involved a star. Well, I guess Lil’ Bow Wow is a star, right? Keyonnah thought she had found true love with the rapper, but this being Catfish we were all like “Gurl, no.” But no one could have seen this reveal coming. Lil’ Bow Wow turned out to be a woman named Dee Pimping. Turns out Dee loved to lure straight women in by pretending to be Lil’ Bow Wow. The craziest thing is that it worked so successfully.
Heather and Mike
Okay this Catfish had a doubly bad reveal. Not only did Mike find out that Caroline wasn’t the beauty he fell in love with, but he actually had been catfished by her before. She claimed they could never meet, because she was battling colon cancer, but the real reason was, she was Mike’s longterm stalker Heather! Surprise! Mike still wasn’t interested! Don’t go there again, Heather. I’m pretty sure the third time isn’t the charm.
