911 Calls Released From Pulse Shooting Reveal Terror, Confusion

A heap of 911 calls have been released from the night of the Pulse shooting in Orlando that left 49 dead and 53 injured, the deadliest mass shooting in US history.

The 911 calls from the June 12 massacre come from friends and family of those trapped inside the nightclub, frantically trying to get help for their loved ones after learning of the shooting through texts and social media. There are also calls from those inside the nightclub, reporting agonizing details as the death count grows. The calls show how many, including those shot, hid in the bathrooms to try and escape the shooter, Omar Mateen. The dispatchers tried their best to stay calm and gather details on the locations and names of those inside the club.

One frustrated and angered caller practically begs for police after having called 911 multiple times and there being no police or medical personnel at the scene.

“911, what’s the location of your emergency?”

“It’s at Pulse nightclub, my girlfriend’s in the bathroom, there are now four dead in the bathroom and two shot are bleeding out. If someone doesn’t get here soon they’re going to die.”

Another caller learned of the shooting from a friend’s posting on Facebook, and having received texts from a friend stuck inside.

“One of our friends, sent us a text and thinks that he’s been shot. He’s in the bathroom and no one sees him.”

A father, driving from out of town to Orlando as soon as he heard of the news, calls 911 from his car in shock and dismay.

“My son was shot in the club, in Pulse in Orlando. He’s still in the bathroom, and he’s bleeding.”
