Assuming this is all true, I wonder how quickly he’ll be assassinated?

“I didn’t think I would be in the position to take somebody else’s life” Coming from the mouth of a soldier, is like a police officer saying that he couldnot imagine that he would ever have to arrest someone.
I don’t underestimate the guy’s problems, having family that served at gaza, serbia and iraq and them returning home with severe ptsd. But they all went in understanding they would have to work in stressfull and dangerous situations, and yes they all understood there might arise a situation in wich they would have to kill someone (and some of them indeed had to do just that).
The fact that he didnot understand that while being in the military, being taught to fly a fighter drone, and not seeing that he might have to kill someone from his desk seat means there is something very wrong with his mindset, or the way soldiers are taught their job. Take your pick.
