Bomb Squad Called After Puddle Of Mudd Singer Rigs Fake Explosive To Car

Last we heard from Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin, he was getting arrested during the middle of a show. This was a few months after his bandmates walked off stage mid-set because the singer was having a drunken meltdown, which in turn was a few months after Scantlin got pulled over for DUI the second time in as many weeks.

Unfortunately, we’re saddened to report that Scantlin’s in the news again for all the wrong reasons. The singer apparently was having troubles with his car getting broken into frequently in front of his West Hollywood home, so he did what any frustrated vehicle owner of sound mind would do and rigged up a fake car bomb.

As reported by TMZ, the “homemade car alarm” consisted of a radio placed under one car with wires leading to the motor and a second vehicle with wires leading from the door to the gas tank. Instead of scaring off any would be thieves, Scantlin only managed to freak the fuck out of his neighbors, who called police. The bomb squad showed up, and four buildings on the block had to be evacuated before it was determined there were no explosives and the whole thing was just the work of a redneck who got his hands on way too much money.

But for once, Scantlin did not get arrested, which makes this story an outlier.
