Julie Hamilton, 54, tucked into food from her vulnerable stroke victim’s cupboards while leaving her hungry

Cruel: Carer Julie Hamilton was caught on hidden camera

Watch the shocking hidden camera footage of a care worker who deprives an 88-year-old of food

A cruel carer was caught on hidden camera depriving a dementia-sufferer of her food – by eating it herself.

Julie Hamilton, 54, tucked into food from her vulnerable stroke victim’s cupboards while leaving her hungry.

She was also seen pouring the partially-sighted 88-year-old’s dinner down the kitchen sink.

Evil Hamilton then falsified records to disguise her cruelty by claiming the pensioner had eaten the food.

She was caught by a hidden camera installed after a colleague became suspicious about the woman’s failing health.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard the campaign of ill-treatment at the house in Willenhall, West Mids, lasted weeks.

The hearing was told Hamilton also force-fed the pensioner to the point where she was unable to swallow.

Her victim suffered from advanced dementia and incontinence and required constant care.

A carer who systematically abused an elderly patient – barking orders at the 88-year-old and depriving her of food – has been jailed following a West Midlands Police investigation. Julie Hamilton (pictured), from Hunts Lane in Willenhall, was employed to look after the lady – who has severe dementia – at her Walsall home and help her at meal times. However, over a period of several months she routinely cut corners, force fed her meals in minutes to speed up visits, and often threw food away having falsely claimed to have served the dinners.

The court heard she received up to seven visits a day from staff at Willenhall-based Complete Care.

Prosecutor Kevin Jones said the covert footage recorded the “substandard” care given by Hamilton.

“Food was given to her forcefully. At times it was given very quickly, which didn’t give her time to digest or swallow,” he said.

He added that on one occasion Hamilton, from Short Heath, West Mids, repeatedly ordered her victim to swallow food.

“When she refused, Hamilton said ‘Well you’ll go without’ and turned on her heels and left,” he said.

Hamilton admitted wilful neglect of a person lacking capacity and was jailed for two months on Tuesday.

She sobbed as her lawyer Patrick Currie said she was suffering from depression at the time of the crimes last April.

He added: “As a result of this case she has suffered enormously. She is utterly disgusted with herself.”
