Police Chief To Deputy- "If Black, Shoot Them"

Police Chief To Deputy- "If Black, Shoot Them"

The former assistant police chief of Prospect, Kentucky once instructed a recruit to shoot black people if he caught them smoking marijuana.
As Louisville’s WDRB reported Friday, Todd Shaw, the ex-assistant police chief of the suburban Louisville police department, sent a number of “highly disturbing racist and threatening Facebook messages” to a recruit.

When asked by the recruit what the “right thing to do” would be if he found three teens smoking marijuana (as per an assignment), Shaw wrote back that the recruit should disregard right and wrong.

“F— the right thing,” Shaw wrote, according to newly-unsealed court records. “If black shoot them.”

When the recruit followed up with questions about what to tell the theoretical teens’ parents, Shaw doubled down.
“Call their (pa)rents,” he wrote. “If mom is hot then f— her … if dad is hot then handcuff him and make him suck my d—.”

“Unless daddy is black,” Shaw continued. “Then shoot him.”

The former police official resigned from his post late last year amid investigations into his conduct and has fought to keep the messages, which are part of the public record under Kentucky law, away from the press. This week, however, Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Judith McDonald-Burkman ruled that the messages must be released to the public.

World's Worst HR Manager Fired After Racist Email To Vietnamese Dad Goes Viral

World's Worst HR Manager Fired After Racist Email To Vietnamese Dad Goes Viral

Bruce Peterson, the now-former HR manager/Hiring manager for Dash Delivery LLC, responded in an email to Mr. Huynh:

Let me tell you know, if you no speak English, I will send you home-

Jeez. Emily tweeted that a professional shouldn't talk to another person in such a manner.

Emily's father, Minh Huynh, immigrated to America in 1995 and owned a restaurant before working as an overnight truck driver for 13 years. According to Next Shark, Mr. Huynh was laid off after being unable to get a certain license on time. For the past two years, he's been working day and night to try and find work, using Google Translate when he needs to.

Emily also shared her father's reaction.

Emily's tweet went viral and people with immigrant parents shared how they can relate.

The Huynhs' story was shared on the website Next Shark, and Mr. Huynh was overwhelmed by the amount of support he's received. Finally, the internet is good for once!

The story has a happy ending: Peterson was fired for his sh*ttiness.

Emily also shared an update from her dad, who's grateful for the support but working hard to move on with daily English lessons.

And the family got an apology from Peterson himself.

Take a lesson from Mr. Huynh: learn from your mistakes and your ignorance.

since the tweet went viral, her dad has received numerous job offers.

She also said that her dad wants to thank the internet for their support, and that she was grateful to "to shine a light to this serious problem of workplace discrimination."

Google's Solution To Accidental Algorithmic Racism: Ban Gorillas

Google's Solution To Accidental Algorithmic Racism: Ban Gorillas

Google’s ‘immediate action’ over AI labelling of black people as gorillas was simply to block the word, along with chimpanzee and monkey, reports suggest

After Google was criticised in 2015 for an image-recognition algorithm that auto-tagged pictures of black people as “gorillas”, the company promised “immediate action” to prevent any repetition of the error.

That action was simply to prevent Google Photos from ever labelling any image as a gorilla, chimpanzee, or monkey – even pictures of the primates themselves.

That’s the conclusion drawn by Wired magazine, which tested more than 40,000 images of animals on the service. Photos accurately tagged images of pandas and poodles, but consistently returned no results for the great apes and monkeys – despite accurately finding baboons, gibbons and orangutans.

Google confirmed that the terms were removed from searches and image tags as a direct result of the 2015 incident, telling the magazine that: “Image labelling technology is still early and unfortunately it’s nowhere near perfect”.

The gorilla blindness is found in other places across Google’s platform: Google Lens, a camera app that identifies objects in images, will also refuse to recognise gorillas. But Google Assistant will correctly identify the primates, as will Google’s business-to-business image recognition service Google Cloud Vision.

The failure of the company to develop a more sustainable fix in the following two years highlights the extent to which machine learning technology, which underpins the image recognition feature, is still maturing.

Such technologies are frequently described as a “black box”, capable of producing powerful results, but with little ability on the part of their creators to understand exactly how and why they make the decisions they do.

That is particularly true of the first wave of image-recognition systems, of which Google Photos was a part. At the same time that product was launched, Flickr released a similar feature, auto-tagging – which had an almost identical set of problems.

The Yahoo-owned photo sharing platform labelled a picture of a black man as “ape”, and a photo of the Dachau concentration camp as “jungle gym”. Flickr’s response was much the same as Google’s: the company apparently removed the word “ape” from its tagging lexicon entirely.

B.C. Woman Captures Racist Rant Against Her On Viral Video

B.C. Woman Captures Racist Rant Against Her On Viral Video

A video of a racist rant posted on Facebook is going viral just a day after the alleged incident took place.

Burnaby, B.C. resident Anika Vassell says she had just gotten into her car on Broadway and Ontario streets when a woman tapped on her window.

When the 24-year-old rolled down her window, Vassell says the woman asked where she was from. When Vassell answered “Vancouver,” having been born and raised in the city, she says the woman asked again.

Vassell then told her she was of Jamaican and South African descent to which the woman allegedly said: “And you’re that black?”

“At first I was angry, and I was about to drive away and she kept talking, like she wasn’t done,” said Vassell.

That’s when she decided to record the encounter.

“Because when I see you, I see that you are black and I see that you are not white, so you are not like the rest of us,” the woman is seen saying in the video. “God help us, maybe we will hold a majority.”

“If this is happening to me just based on the colour of my skin, then it can happen to anybody,” said Vassell.

“I didn’t do anything to this woman but she just saw my appearance and needed to tell me that I don’t belong.”

She says people should be aware that racism can occur anywhere, even in bigger cities like Vancouver. She’s hoping the video will show others how their words can affect people.

“As much as I would like to pretend that I am strong and that these comments don’t affect me, they do and I’m sad,” Vassell wrote in her post.

The video ends with the woman telling Vassell to go back to her “home country.”

As of Friday afternoon, the video had been viewed more than 45,000 times.

Racist Lady Goes Viral For Racist Tirade At Starbucks

A woman was escorted by police out of the Walnut Creek, Cali., Starbucksafter berating a Korean student there for speaking her own language.

the woman told her "This is America. Use English only" and "Your language is disgusting."

In the footage, an elderly woman working on a laptop can be heard telling An, "If you can sit and be quiet, fine, but I don't want to hear your language."

A Starbucks employee defends An's right to speak Korean within the establishment and nicely asks the woman to leave. Instead, she continues to berate An.

"You're going to be in trouble when I get this letter out," she said, tapping a single key on her computer. A bystander responds, "You're pressing numbers over and over again."

Here's the video.

This Square Dancing Conspiracy Is Insane

This Square Dancing Conspiracy Is Insane

If you or someone you know has ever been forced to learn how to square dance in school, they are part of a huge government conspiracy to rid the world of jazz music. It seems silly, but the farther you go down this rabbit hole, the more the story checks out.

Buckle up, because you are about to learn that what we were taught in P.E. can’t be trusted. We’re fairly certain there is some military experiment related to dodgeball, as well, but we haven’t figured it out just yet.

Writer Robyn Pennacchia was doing some research when she stumbled upon the fact that the square dance is the official state dance of most states that have a “state dance.”

So she started to dig deeper, and discovered that this push to make the square dance the official dance of the U.S.A. had ties to automaker and anti-semite Henry Ford.

But why would a rich individual care about a silly dance, and why would he use his money and influence pushing for it to be taught in schools? Apparently, Ford and some like-minded individuals felt like jazz music was ruining society, and being racist and anti-Semitic, they didn’t want their culture hi-jacked.

And that’s when all the weirdos turn crazy as the plot continues to thicken. Check out Robyn’s full thread if you really want to do a deep dive, but we can’t guarantee your safety (or sanity) from there.

Dad Of Viral Bullying Victim Keaton Jones Is Apparently A Jailed White Supremacist

Dad Of Viral Bullying Victim Keaton Jones Is Apparently A Jailed White Supremacist

Ohhh boy. It turns out that Keaton Jones, the little boy who went viral when his mom recorded him talking about being bullied at school, is the son of a jailed white supremacist. See, this is why we can't have nice things.

After Keaton's mother posted the video in which he talks about being bullied at school, he received support from tens of thousands of people on social media, some of whom were big name celebrities like Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown, Chris Evans, and Snoop Dogg.

Now the attention is turning to his father, Shawn White, who, according to TMZ, is a white supremacist who's in a Tennessee jail. He's posted lots of racist stuff on his Facebook page, including memes saying "Keep Calm and be White Pride," and "Aryan Pride." White (apt last name) also has the words "pure breed" and "white pride" tattooed on him.

On Tuesday, Keaton's mother, Kimberly Jones, tried to explain away pictures of Confederate flags on her own Facebook page, saying they were meant to be funny.

Maybe they're not quite as ironic as she's making them out to be?

Bullied Kid’s Mom Now Going Viral After Being Exposed As A Racist

Bullied Kid’s Mom Now Going Viral After Being Exposed As A Racist

This whole story is getting more and more weird and crazy. We went from a feel-good story that went viral. That may not be a feel good? Which then added a racist mother to the mix.

If you haven’t seen the viral video this is what was shared on Facebook by the mom:

A Tennessee woman’s heartbreaking video of her tearful son recounting being bullied at middle school has prompted a wave of support from athletes and entertainers.
Kimberly Jones said in a Facebook post on Friday she had just picked up her son, Keaton, from school because he was too afraid to go to lunch.

According to Barstool:

Maybe this will change her views about people and she’ll raise her kids to be more accepting of others with differences. Or maybe she’ll cash out from her Go Fund Me.

Here is an IG post:

The post was shared and supported by TONS of people online. LIKE TONS! Here are just a few:

From celebs:

To pro athletes and teams.

This all escalated pretty quickly:

Jones became internet famous when his mother, Kimberly Jones, posted a heartbreaking video of him describing bullying and harassment by his classmates. But soon after, people on social media began circulating photos they said were posted to her Facebook page of people holding Confederate flags.

We can’t tell you if the pictures are real, because her Facebook page has been wiped of everything but one post, and she has not responded to messages seeking comment. Both “Keaton” and “Go Fund Me” were trending Monday because of a GoFundMe account created in the boy’s name had raised nearly $60,000. (Update: The campaign has been halted amid the racism accusations.)

JR Smith, as expected, reminds us that Keaton is a kid and isn’t responsible for the action of his parents.

Now the GoFundMe might also be canned:

The administrator of a GoFundMe drive that has collected nearly $60,000 for bullied child-turned-viral sensation Keaton Jones has halted the drive after Jones’ mother, Kimberly Jones, was accused of racism.

Joseph Lam, the 37-year-old New Jersey man who initiated the campaign, said he didn’t know the family, but wanted to make sense of the situation and make sure everyone had Keaton’s interests at heart.

He said he had heard from “a lot of people with concerns” about whether the mom was racist, but added: “I’m more concerned with the kid.”

And her profiles were deleted ?

Update: Dec. 11, 2017 6:13 p.m. EST:

It seems as though no one can verify the authenticity of the alleged Instagram account belonging to Kimberly Jones. The previous Instagram account below, has now been wiped of its profile photo, and a Wayback Machine search, showed that it once belonged to a teenager, who may be playing an Instagram hoax and selling verified Instagram accounts.

Update: Dec. 11, 2017 3:10 p.m. EST:

Apparently Kimberly Jones is now the owner of a verified Instagram account and Joe Schilling was communicating with an alleged fake profile:

Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Leaving Bacon In Front Of Mosque

Man Sentenced To 15 Years For Leaving Bacon In Front Of Mosque

A man who vandalized a Florida mosque and left a slab of raw bacon on its doorstep has been sentenced to 15 years in prison on a hate crime conviction.

Michael Wolfe, 37, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to criminal mischief to a place of worship, a case considered a felony hate crime, Todd Brown the spokesman for Florida’s 18th Judicial District said.

CCTV footage from January 2, 2016 captured a man with a shaved head wearing camouflage clothing smashing windows, cameras and lights with a machete knife at the mosque in Titusville, near Cape Canaveral.

Hate groups have been using pork products to desecrate mosques in the USA due to the Muslim faith’s prohibition of them, according to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR).

Prosecutors said the sentence of 15 years in prison followed by 15 years probation was reached after discussions between the Islamic Society of Central Florida and Titusville police, report USA Today.

Brown said:

He entered a plea deal and plead guilty to vandalizing the mosque itself with hate crime enhancement, making it a felony.

He waived his right to a pre-sentencing investigation.

Wolfe’s tasteless act took place during what’s reported as a growing number of mosque vandalisms has been taking place across the United States.

Muslim advocacy groups had expressed concern over the wave of ‘anti-Islamic’ sentiment when Wolfe’s attack on the Titusville mosque took place.

Brown said that Wolfe offered to the court that he was a habitual offender.

Wolfe is not allowed to return to the mosque as a condition of his probation. Further details of the probation were not immediately available.

As well as the criminal mischief charge, Wolfe was charged with armed burglary during the arrest, which was subsequently dropped in court.

Brown added:

The agreement was to drop the armed burglary in exchange for his plea.

The Muslim faith is followed by 1.6 billion people worldwide with an estimated 3.3 million living in the US.

If These Two Hot People Can Get Along, Why Can't We Have World Peace?

If These Two Hot People Can Get Along, Why Can't We Have World Peace?

Miss Iraq and Miss Israel just took a selfie and people are concerned.

"With Miss Iraq," wrote Miss Israel, real name Adar Gandelsman, "practicing bringing world peace." That's hilarious to anyone who knows the beauty pageant trope, but the good people of the internet hardly wanted to reminiscence about the movie Miss Congeniality at all. All they wanted to talk about was how Israel and Iraq are sworn enemies, and the last time something like this happened at Miss Universe contest, there were consequences.

In 2015, Miss Lebanon had to explain herself extensively after Doron Matalon, then Miss Israel, posted a photo alongside her and two other contestants.

According to the New York Times, that implied "to all the world that the Lebanese beauty queen [Saly Griege] had been fraternizing with the enemy." Israel had just led an airstrike in neighboring Syria, and tensions were high. In 2017, Iraq and Israel are—to say the least—not friendly. The countries hold no official diplomatic relations.

In 2015, Miss Lebannon claimed the photo was taken without her permission after the photo "led to calls to strip Greige of her title," according to the Times of IsraelMiss Iraq hasn't made any excuses, posting the photo herself on Instagram:

Commenters across all social platforms expressed concern for Miss Iraq. When the photo was posted on Reddit, one of the highest voted comments said the following:

Unfortunately, I assume that Ms. Iraq will suffer greatly for this.

So far, she hasn't been stripped of her title or apparently faced any official backlash. That's a good thing. Can't we all just agree that hot people, no matter their country of origin, are all equally better than us? That's the world I want to live in.

Neo-Nazis and white supremacists have always been distasteful, but now it turns out their taste in pizza is terrible, too.

The white supremacist website the Daily Stormer announced Thursday that Papa John’s pizza is the official pie of the alt-right, posting a picture of a pizza with a swastika fashioned from pepperoni slices. The caption reads, "Papa John: Official pizza of the alt-right?"

Pizza from the Daily Stormer website.DAILY STORMER

The pronouncement came after Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter, whose pizza is an official NFL sponsor, blamed his company’s recent losses on NFL players protesting police brutality during the national anthem.

Schnatter was widely accused of racism and of making bad pizza. But white supremacists came to his defense.

“This might be the first time ever in modern history that a major institution is going to be completely destroyed explicitly because of public outrage over their anti-white agenda,” Daily Stormer writer Adrian Sol posted, referring to the NFL and adding disturbingly, “The Negro fatigue caused by this whole NFL fiasco is reaching heights that even I didn’t fully expect.”

This isn’t the first time the far-right has endorsed a brand and demonstrated how hateful ideology can permeate everything from sports to retail. Last November, the neo-Nazis said New Balance shoes were the “official shoes of white people” because one of the company’s top executives criticized former President Barack Obama and said that he supported Trump.

The Daily Stormer also declared Wendy’s the “official burger of the Neo-Nazi Alt-Right movement” after a representative of the fast-food chain posted a picture of an alt-right meme on the company’s Twitter account.

The brands, however, have been quick to disassociate themselves from white supremacists. New Balance released a statement saying it is a “values-driven” organization that believes in “humanity, integrity, community and mutual respect for people around the world.”

In an email to the Huffington Post, Papa John’s also said it condemns racism in all forms.

“We do not want these individuals or groups to buy our pizza,” the company said in a statement.

That said, Papa John's CEO Schnatter has earned praise from the right wing for criticizing Obamacare in 2012 and also donating around $1,000 to the Trump campaign.

Kellogg’s Apologizes After Dude Notices Racist Detail On Corn Pops Box

I’m baffled that people eat Corn Pops as it’s one of the most disgusting cereals out there, but Twitter user and novelist Saladin Ahmed does and he recently noticed one detail about the cereal box that he just had to share.

Ahmed took it to Twitter to show a picture from the back of the cereal box that shows a bizarre scene filled with a bunch of Corn Pops at the mall. And there’s only one brown Corn Pop on the box and it’s the janitor. Damn. Check out the tweet below.

Here’s a closer look at the scene:

And here’s the detail Ahmed spotted.

Ahmed also tweeted this:

Kellogg’s didn’t waste anytime in fixing this. Here’s how they responded:

And Ahmed followed up:

But some people didn’t see an issue with the box’s illustration.

What’s your stance on all this?

The Internet Is Pissed Over Woman’s ‘Aunt Jemima’ Blackface Costume

The Internet Is Pissed Over Woman’s ‘Aunt Jemima’ Blackface Costume

Blackface is literally never a good idea.

But, time and again, during Halloween, there will always be someone who thinks it's a good idea to parade themselves around in blackface as part of their costume to celebrate the holiday.

Because this is 2017 and everything eventually ends up on the internet, it's probably best to just leave blackface costumes alone. Apparently this one woman didn't get the memo, however, and thought it'd be funny to flaunt her blackface Aunt Jemima costume.

What's worse is that a bunch of people responded positively to the costume that was uploaded by the woman's friend.

People were shocked at how open she was about sharing the photos, and the fact that her friend thought this was a perfectly acceptable Halloween costume.

And then a flood of "white people" jokes started coming in.

Mostly though, people were just dumbfounded by her friend's lack of foresight in posting the pics online.

Once people started messaging the woman who posted photos of her friend's blackface costume, she became defensive and apparently took them down.

But screenshots last forever, and when it comes to things that are deemed offensive and culturally insensitive, you can believe people aren't going to let this go.

What did you think of the costume?

Racist Nursing Textbook Shows How Different Minority Groups Handle Pain - Twitter Is Horrified

Racist Nursing Textbook Shows How Different Minority Groups Handle Pain - Twitter Is Horrified

In today's episode of racist bullsh*t that could and should have been avoided: a page from a nursing textbook published by Pearson is making the rounds on Twitter today. And sadly not because everyone suddenly wants to get in to nursing.

The heading reads "Diversity and Culture" (already off to an awkward start) and it lays out, in detail, how various religious, racial and ethnic groups respond to pain. It's.....painful.

If you're curious, the book is called Nursing: A Concept-Based Approach to Learning, Volume I and it's on Amazon if you'd like to leave a review. It includes extremely dubious "facts" about different groups of people, including that black people lie about their pain intensity, Hispanic people are either "stoic" or "expressive" (umm, like all people?) and Jewish people are "vocal and demanding of assistance." And while, sure, that last one may be 100% true of my grandma, it's false not to mention dangerous in a medical setting to treat people based on assumptions and stereotypes.

As this point you might be thinking, "okay, slow your roll, this book was probably created in the 1950's when people didn't have the education and awareness they have today." NOPE. IT WAS CREATED IN 2015. TWO YEARS AGO.

The page was first brought to public attention by wellness advocate Onyx Moore, who shared it on Facebook on Monday, explaining that it's the perfect example of "how not to be even remotely culturally sensitive":

Moore writes:

This is an excellent example of how not to be even remotely culturally sensitive. These assumptions are not evidence-based, they encourage nurses to ignore what a patient is actually saying (if someone tells you their pain level is high, you need to believe them), they list common behaviors as culturally specific (most people are more comfortable being honest about their pain with family members/those close to them), and they don't actually teach nurses how to engage in a CULTURALLY SENSITIVE way.

This chart lumps together various groups whose belief-systems vary widely. Native Americans are not a monolithic group, so you can't make a generic list of what is culturally sensitive to them. Asia is a huge country and the chart completely glosses over that while leaving out countless groups in an attempt to convey the message quickly. If they are including African people under Black, then they're intentionally shoving together a whole host of groups with different cultural customs; if they're not including them under Black, then they just completely ignored an entire portion of patients. Jewish/Muslim can be both ethnicities or religions, so what happens if a Black Jew comes in? Or a Black Muslim?

And she concludes:

If you want to be culturally sensitive, then you need to actually LEARN about other cultures. If a patient tells you their pain level, believe them- because *they* are the expert on their body. As a medical professional, your job is to provide medical care, the patient's job is to convey their symptoms; when in doubt err on the side of better treatment, not disbelief.

The clip from the handbook was shared by Massachusetts resident Kelly Hills on Twitter, where it went viral. "HOLY SHIT!" she wrote, and tagged the publishing company. "Pearson actually published this racist bullshit in a nursing textbook."

She followed up with this thread to clarify why the book is not only wrong but potentially dangerous:

Kelly's tweet has been shared over 2,000 times since yesterday. And other people are calling out the handbook on Twitter, drawing more viral attention:

Apparently this last tweet got Pearson's attention, and they responded with this tepid apology:

And today, Pearson's beleaguered social media person (or perhaps Mr. or Mrs. Pearson him or herself), is apparently trying to fix the problem:

Uhhh, okay. Good luck with that!

A neo-Nazi skinhead wandered into a crowd of protesters outside white supremacist Richard Spencer’s speech on Thursday and got an unexpected response — a big hug from a black man who was among the anti-white-supremacists.

Spencer’s speech at the University of Florida drew close to 300 protesters, many of whom shouted angrily at the smaller gathering of white supremacists and skinheads supporting Spencer. With tensions high after an event in Charlottesville, Virginia, led to the death of a protester earlier this summer, the event in Florida ended up bringing a much more unlikely interaction between the two groups.

A viral video making the rounds on social media showed a skinhead wearing a swastika shirt silently make his way through the angry crowd. After being greeted with some shoves and punches — including one that left his nose bloody — the man met an unlikely friend.

As the New York Post noted, a black man approached the skinhead and pulled the white man close to his chest, saying, “Give me a f***in’ hug.”

After the hug, the black man tried to have a conversation with the skinhead.

“Why don’t you like me, dog?” he asked. “Huh? What is it?”

The video clip ended before seeing the man’s answer, but the interaction has gone viral. The incident can be seen below (there is some adult language, so it may not be safe to watch in all settings).

The viral hug between the neo-Nazi and black man came amid larger protests that drew national attention. Spencer is one of the most notorious white supremacists in the United States and is credited as one of the pioneers of the so-called “Alt Right” movement.

As Fox News reported, Richard Spencer had been slated to speak for two hours but had to cut the appearance short amid loud and disruptive protests. After the violence in Charlottesville, officials in Florida were prepared and Gov. Rick Scott even declared a state of emergency for Alachua County ahead of the event to devote more security and prepare for potentially violent clashes.

Though Richard Spencer’s speech was drowned out and ultimately cut short, the viral hug between the neo-Nazi and black man is still getting plenty of attention.

Guy Shouting Racial Slurs On Crowded Subway Gets A Cup Of Soup To The Face - Justice!

Guy Shouting Racial Slurs On Crowded Subway Gets A Cup Of Soup To The Face - Justice!

Soup™: it's warm, it's salty, and it's perfect for throwing in a racist's face. So when a drunk dude started shouting the n-word on a crowded NYC subway train this past weekend, thankfully another rider had a big ol' cup of steaming hot soup on hand to remedy the situation.

The racist, who was carrying a Bud Light Lime-A-Rita as if to identify himself, was filmed repeatedly saying the n-word and yelling about how he went to NYU law school. "I talk shit because I know I can, because I'm a lawyer," he's heard saying. "I went to NYU law. Fuck you!" Hard to know exactly what to hate him for at this point, there's just so much.

Fortunately, this subway car full of New Yorkers mobilized to handle the situation. The racist was confronted by several people, who eventually pushed him onto the platform at Bedford Avenue. And then, in a glorious moment at minute 1:48, someone pelted him in the face with a full cup of soup. This is art. Just watch:

Joshua Pyne, who witnessed the whole thing, told Gothamist the incident happened around 2 pm on Saturday. It began with a "spat about personal space" and escalated when the guy called a black man the n-word, at which point someone began filming.

"Understandably, this woman of color and a couple other folks as you can see in the video, call the guy out," Pyne told Gothamist. "This guy starts caterwauling about his 1st Amendment rights and whatnot. The guy didn't seem to be falling-down drunk, but was ...clearly belligerent."

As they always say, revenge is a dish best served piping hot, maybe with some oyster crackers or a side of bread.

Dove Is Facing Serious Twitter Backlash Over A Racist Ad

Dove Is Facing Serious Twitter Backlash Over A Racist Ad

Following their recent jarring ad campaign, the personal care company Dove is facing Twitter backlash for racist images.

The campaign images shows a black woman removing a brown t-shirt to reveal a white woman wearing underneath. A later image shows the white woman peeling off her shirt to reveal an Asian woman. Umm, wtf?! No.

The image first went viral when the makeup artist Naythemua posted a screenshot on Facebook.

The cringe inducing image quickly reached the furthest corners of the internet, and received much deserved Twitter backlash.

Sadly, as many pointed out, this isn't the first time Dove has featured problematic (racist) advertising.

Other Twitter users pointed out how the image fits into a long historical narrative of racist soap ads. Just warning you, some of these images are disturbing and potentially triggering.

In lieu of the backlash, people on Twitter also provided lists of black-owned soap companies people can buy from instead. Also, a shout out to Dr. Bronner's soap.

Following the backlash, Dove posted an apology on Twitter. The apology was weak: "An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused."

It would be a huge understatement to say the soap company has submerged themselves in hot water.

Uber Driver Kicks Passengers Out Of His Car For Being Racist

Uber Driver Kicks Passengers Out Of His Car For Being Racist

The problem began as soon as a group of young, white passengers hopped into his Uber, and one of them is heard reciting the phrase "white privilege"—in an obnoxious, dare I say racist way. RED FLAG #1.

The Uber driver at first tries to keep his cool and be respectful. But you can tell the racist comment got under his skin. He then says to a passenger sitting in the front seat: "please don't touch my stuff, bro." To add insult to injury, this passenger was touching his stuff?????? RED FLAG #2.

The driver soon decides to pull over, telling the passengers calmly: "You know what ... I need you to get out." To the woman who ordered the ride, he says "I’m sorry, Rebecca, but your partner here has gotta go," and then as he starts explaining why he's kicking them out, the guy in the back calls him the n-word. Firefighter Suspended For Saying He 'Would Rescue Dog Before N*gger From Burning Building'

Firefighter Suspended For Saying He 'Would Rescue Dog Before N*gger From Burning Building'

A volunteer firefighter in Ohio has been suspended indefinitely after posting “unacceptable” and racist remarks on Facebook, saying he’d save a dog from a burning house before a black man.

Tyler Roysdon was booted from his position in Franklin Township after the post, which has been removed, was spotted, WHIO reports.

“That’s because one dog is more important than a million n——,” Roysdon wrote, according to a screenshot posted by FOX 19.

Messages seeking comment from Roysdon were not immediately returned Friday. A woman who identified herself as Roysdon’s wife later posted that he realized his comments were wrong and apologized, FOX 19 reports.

“Everyone deserves a second chance and is also entitled to their own opinion,” Joei Frame Roysdon wrote.

Township officials, however, weren’t buying that explanation. They called the volunteer firefighter’s take simply “unacceptable” and ordered him suspended without pay.

“Recently, a Franklin Township volunteer firefighter posted unacceptable remarks on social media,” the township’s statement read. “Upon gaining knowledge of this information, Fire Chief Steve Bishop immediately contacted the firefighter and directed the comments be removed.  The firefighter was suspended without pay until the Board of Township Trustees could meet to determine a course of action.”

The fire chief does not have the authority to terminate employees. That requires a vote by the township’s Board of Trustees, and a disciplinary hearing has been set for Sept. 27, according to the statement.

Although listed as a volunteer firefighter, Roysdon did receive payment for each emergency he responded to within the township, WHIO reports.

Roysdon’s grandparents told the station he no longer lived with them and declined to comment on his suspension.

Brian Morris, a township trustee, said Roysdon’s remarks were clearly out of bounds by any estimation.

“I think it’s something you have to step back and take a look at,” Morris told FOX 45. “There’s no reason for it and he shouldn’t have said anything close to that.”

Another volunteer firefighter told the station that Roysdon’s comments in no way reflect on the department as a whole.

“We don’t pick and choose who needs us, we just go,” Ryan Grubbs said. “We’re volunteers, we’re doing this because we love the community.”

Racism Banner Causes Scene At Fenway

Racism Banner Causes Scene At Fenway

A banner draped from the stands of Boston's Fenway Park was meant to spark a conversation, says one of the individuals involved in Wednesday night's stunt. In that sense, it was a success. During the fourth inning of the Red Sox game against the Oakland Athletics, three protesters unfurled a black banner with white lettering, reading "Racism is as American as baseball," from front-row seats above the left field wall as two other protesters documented the incident, report CSNNE and the Boston Globe. Though the sign was only visible for two minutes, it sparked a debate on social media, per the Boston Herald, including about what it actually meant, with some believing it was designed to promote racism. In reality, it was meant to do the opposite.

Designed in response to racist comments Red Sox fans hurled at Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles back in May, the banner was meant "to remind everyone that just as baseball is fundamental to American culture and history, so too is racism. White people need to wake up to this reality before white supremacy can truly be dismantled," the protesters wrote in a statement to CSNNE, adding they were inspired by groups tied to racial justice—including Black Lives Matter, but not antifa. "It's kind of telling that it is being interpreted as [an ambiguous message]," one of the protesters adds. Though at least one person demanded the protesters be arrested, four of them were simply escorted from the park (the fifth protester left separately) because signs are barred from being "hung or affixed to the ballpark," notes a Red Sox statement.

Man Charged After Video Of His Insanely Racist Behavior Goes Viral: "Shut Up, Slave!"

Man Charged After Video Of His Insanely Racist Behavior Goes Viral: "Shut Up, Slave!"

A man who hurled racial epithets as well as punches outside a Chicago Starbucks (and was captured on video) in June is being charged with felony hate crimes, the Washington Post reports. The 24-year-old assholeman, William Boucher, had initially been charged with misdemeanor battery, but in August, a judge issued an arrest warrant for four new felony hate crime charges and four upgraded felony aggravated battery charges. On Saturday, Boucher was booked into the Cook County jail, with bond set at $50,000.

According to police, Boucher got angry when someone spilled a drink on him inside Starbucks, and ended up on on a racist rant outside the shop, which involved him spitting on a 30-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, and concluded with him spitting and throwing a punch at an apparent stranger. Great job, guy!

Juan Torres, an employee at the Starbucks where the fight happened, told ABC7, "Calling people racist slurs. When I was coming to work, I was not expecting to see that."

The whole fight was recorded on cell phone by a local ABC7 Newsphotographer who happened to be there at the time. The video begins after Boucher has already gone outside and begun yelling at two seemingly uninvolved black men, "Shut up, slave! Do not talk to me! Your children are disposable vermin!"

A Starbucks employee tried to stop the fight, but Boucher continued to yell at one of the black men who was walking away from him, "Get on all fours! Do not walk off on two legs!"

Next, Boucher punched an apparently homeless 59-year-old man for no reason. At that point, bystanders intervened and held Boucher until the police showed up. The 59-year-old was taken to a hospital to be treated for an eye injury, according to ABC7 News.

One of the men who was spit on, and who also helped detain Boucher, was 30-year-old Gerald Mitchell. In July, Mitchell told the Chicago Sun-Times, "He said a lot of stuff that didn’t make it on the video." He added, "I try to see the good in people. I don't know his background. I would try to give him the benefit of the doubt. I just know it was downright wrong. Disgusting."

If he's convicted, Boucher will face either probation or two to five years of prison for each of the aggravated battery charges, and one to three years of prison for each of the hate crime charges.

15 Actors Who Made Insanely Racist Statements

15 Actors Who Made Insanely Racist Statements

Racism is a huge and divisive issue in America, and around the world. While no one wants to be labeled a racist, it’s important to call out people who make statements that stereotype, demean, dismiss, or defame people of other races or nationalities. The purpose of these call outs isn’t necessarily to punish a celebrity who said something dumb—but rather so we can all reach a greater understanding of how we discuss race, and how those discussions impact us all.

Before we get started, let’s be clear about a few things. First, we’re not saying that anyone who makes a racially insensitive statement is necessarily a terrible person. Some of the people on our list listened and learned after their unfortunate statements and moved forward better for it. Second, we’re NOT using the sociological definition of “racism,” which refers only to systemic, institutional oppression based on race. For the purpose of this list, “racism” is defined as simple bigotry based on race or nationality. Okay, now that we’re all on the same page…

Here are 15 actors who made insanely racist statements.

We’re guessing that there aren’t a lot of Justin Bieber fans reading this list. But then, we’re kind of surprised that there are a lot of Justin Bieber fans to begin with. We don’t blame a kid who realizes his life’s dream as a young teen for being a bit obnoxious and mouthy. But young Biebs has gone well past that. We know that he’s been awful to fans on occasion, disrespected the flag of Argentina, and was unthinkably rude to a guy who was just trying to mop a floor.

This Canadian singer and occasional actor makes our list for a racist joke he told even though he knew he was being filmed. For some fans, the tacit expectation that they’d be cool with a crude joke containing the N-word was as awful as the joke itself. If you really want to see it, it can be found on YouTube. Maybe we shouldn’t hold teenagers to the same standard as adults, but 15 is plenty old enough to know why racist “jokes” aren’t all that funny.

Remember when an unconsequenced murder in Ferguson, MO led to protests and even some rioting? And then the cops showed up and proved that they don’t use excessive force…by using excessive force? Most of the country thought that was all terrible. Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, Supergirl) didn’t. According to a rant on his Facebook page, Sorbo declared that the residents of Ferguson were “animals” and “losers” who “blame The Man” for their problems. He went on to assert that African Americans are probably sorry they elected Obama. Way to understand the big issues, Kevin.

Most people, when someone is shot and killed, do tend to blame those who fired the shot rather than the one lying dead. But not Kevin Sorbo. Maybe he thinks playing fantasy characters gives him the power to know what’s in the hearts of other people. Sorbo walked back his statements, a little, while suggesting that everyone should only read stories from “conservative watchdog groups.”

If you’re a fan of grown-up cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy, it can be easy to think that James Woods is a funny, cool guy with a good sense of humor. What you might not get from those performances is that in real-life, Woods is less like a guy you’d want to hang out with and more like the loser he played in Casino. Shame, that.

Earlier this summer, Woods took flack for his mean-spirited tweet about a trans child and his family, asserting that the child would eventually murder his parents, dismember them, and stuff them in a freezer. Charming. When he’s not insulting children online, Woods complains about liberals, refers to Black Lives Matter as a “hate group,” and often calls anti-police-violence demonstrators “animals.” Most recently, Mr. Woods was flamed for comparing the removal of statues honoring Confederate ‘heroes’ with a non-existent attempt to remove the statue of the flag raising at Iwo Jima.

Sadly, basketball great Yao Ming has had to listen to racist bullcrap from a few angles. An ESPN writer (but not the editor, oddly) was fired for his use of the phrase, “Chink in the Armor” in reference to Ming’s opponents. It wasn’t even the first time the phrase was used by the network. Sadder, some of that racist shade came from Shaquille O’Neal.

In an interview, O’Neal is quoted as saying, ‘Tell Yao Ming ‘Ching chong yang wah ah-so,” mocking the Chinese language with all the skill of a 3rd grade bully. Fans were shocked, the NBA threatened a fine, and Shaq was called out by news outlets at home and abroad. The only person who didn’t complain was Yao Ming himself—who essentially said that while he wasn’t offended, he imagined most Chinese people would not see the humor in the statement. Hint: if it’s a private joke between friends, maybe keep it private next time. Under enormous pressure, Shaq gave a halfhearted apology for the remark, the old “IF anyone was offended, I apologize.” Weak sauce, Shaq.

Is anyone really shocked that the loudmouth wrestler in a flag bandana has antiquated views on what it is to be an American? Probably not. Still, it’s a drag to think of someone who’s been idolized by children as a virulent racist. It’s also a little galling that one of the instances outing him as such was a sex tape that he ended up making millions of dollars on.

In 2015, Hogan was dropped from the WWE like a racist rock after an enraged tirade about his daughter, Brooke, dating an African-American man. The tirade, part of a leaked sex tape, contained numerous uses of a common racial slur, enraged fans, and forever branded him as a garbage person. A half-hearted apology referred to his use of slurs, but made no mention of the actual content. Regardless of the vocab you use, keeping your children away from those of other races is pretty dang racist.

Is there anything offensive that Charlie Sheen hasn’t done at some point? He’s routinely dishonest, violent toward women, a nightmare to work with, intoxicated in public, and yes, racist. How? For starters, Charlie Sheen is a “birther,” which means he joined the cadre of idiots publicly musing that our 44th President wasn’t born in this country. Say it ain’t so, Wild Thing! One might think a guy whose real name is Carlos Irwin Estevez would be cooler to people from other countries. You’d be wrong. Sheen is also a consummate drug addict and violent guy, which makes him seem far more like his character from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off than we’d care to admit.

Sheen has also used racial slurs when they made no sense, such as calling his ex, Denise Richards, the N-word. Um, what? When condemned, Sheen trotted out the tired line that he can’t be racist because he’s friends with a black person—in this case, Tony Todd. We have to wonder what Tony Todd’s fans think of him keeping such low company. At the same time, we wouldn’t presume to argue with Candyman.

The concept of cultural appropriation is a tricky and divisive one. Technically, anyone who wears a bathrobe with a tie or uses Arabic numbers and letters is borrowing from another culture. Still, affluent white people affecting trends from other, often oppressed, cultures is a hot button issue for a variety of reasons. The former Disney star took the typical trajectory after leaving the network—becoming as outrageous and provocative as she was able. That’s none of our business * sips tea * but the racism, on the other hand—yuck.

In 2009, Cyrus posed for a candid picture with friends, using fingers to pull their eyelids into a “slant eyed” pose commonly used to mock Asians. When she was called out, Cyrus gave a half-hearted apology that was oblivious to the racist implications of the photo. Eventually, someone must have sat her down for a long conversation (we’re guessing it wasn’t Billy Ray) because a few weeks later, Miley Cyrus did appear to understand the error of her ways. Her next apology seemed more sincere.

If your Dad or Grandfather is reading this over your shoulder, now might be a good time to send them away. John Wayne is a cowboy hero to men of a certain age, having starred in staple man-films like True Grit and How the West Was Won. His career as a tough guy was even more impressive when you realize that John Wayne’s given first name was Marion. Really.

We’re not here to lambaste John Wayne for supporting Nixon, being an outspoken Republican, or even for his membership in the John Birch Society (though some of those things are questionable). If it weren’t for an interview Wayne gave to Playboy magazine in 1971, his penchant for white supremacy might not have become common knowledge. Because it did, we leave you with this single quote from Wayne: “I believe in white supremacy, until the blacks are educated to the point of responsibility.

One of the things America does well is creating celebrities out of random rich people for no good reason. Nowhere is this more evident than the fact that we all know who Paris Hilton is. She’s blonde, an heiress, she had a TV show on FOX, and she carries her tiny dog in a tiny purse. That’s already more information than any of us need.

This Paris Hilton quote comes from an interview with the New York Times, “I can’t stand black guys. I’d never touch one. It’s gross.” The quote is part of a hilarious story of the time Paris made out with someone at a party, not realizing he was “a black guy” until the lights came up. In the interview, Hilton was asked ‘how black’ someone had to be for her to shun them. Her reply? “One percent is enough for me.” Now that is gross. Rumor has it that the guy in question was Vin Diesel.

In addition to being an award-winning actor, writer, and producer, Matt (middle name Paige) Damon does charity work and helms Project Greenlight—a yearly contest that aimed to discover promising new screenwriters and directors. It’s because Damon is such an enormous Hollywood figure that the things he says have such power, and should be scrutinized when necessary.

Damon was accused of a racist bit of mansplaining for his behavior during a Project Greenlight meeting in 2015. As presented (it was edited, as most “reality shows” are), Damon interrupted a black female filmmaker, essentially to explain diversity to her. She, and many viewers, were frustrated and offended by the comments—which were more rude and obtuse than outright racist. Nonetheless, Damon was roasted over the internet’s hottest coals. The good news? Damon made a heartfelt statement affirming his commitment to diversity, telling his detractors that he heard their comments, and avowed to do better.

It’s easy to fall for the handsome charm of Mark Wahlberg. Artistically, he’s a dynamic actor and a savvy producer. We loved him in everything from Three Kings to The Departed to Ted. These days, he’s involved in humanitarian efforts and has a foundation that helps at-risk youth. So it’s unsettling to realize that Wahlberg is atoning for some violent racist acts in his youth.

Wahlberg did not deny the charge that he threw rocks and shouted racist slurs at schoolchildren. Later, he was charged with attempted murder after beating, and permanently blinding a Vietnamese man. It seems he told the police he “split open” the head of a “slanty-eyed gook.” Wahlberg’s history is less surprising when you realize that 4 of his siblings did multiple terms in prison, and that he routinely had access to cocaine at age 13. He has expressed regret for the acts he committed in his youth and affirmed his dedication to “stay on the straight and narrow.

Whatever you may think of the films of Adam Sandler, they make money. That means he gets to keep making films regardless of whether or not they measure up artistically. Seldom is this more obvious than in the green lighting of Ridiculous Six, Sandler’s idea of a spoof of the classic The Magnificent Seven. During filming, the Native American cast members as well as the cultural advisor walked off set. They’d had enough of the misrepresentation of Native American culture, dress, traditions, and misuse of feathers. They were incensed at Sandler’s refusal to change the name of a female character called “Beaver’s Breath.” Really.

When asked about the incident, Sandler trotted out the usual excuses, “it was taken out of context,” and “it’s really pro-Indian,” and even “there’s no mockery of American Indians at all.” While Adam Sandler insists that the entire cast was “in on the joke,” the dozen-plus people who walked out might disagree.

We think of Tim Burton more as a director than an actor, but he has been credited (or appeared uncredited) in at least ten films. Because he’s mainly a director though, that’s the context we’ll discuss here. Every so often, a film journalist will point out the startling lack of diversity in the casts of Burton’s films. In and of itself, that might not be racist. But it does warrant follow up questions. That’s where it gets tricky.

When asked specifically about the stark whiteness of the cast of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, (with the exception of Samuel L. Jackson, Burton’s first major African American character after more than 40 years of directing films), Burton explained that “either things call for things, or they don’t.” Essentially, he’s saying that if minorities are needed for a film, he’ll cast them. The problem with that is that it presumes that Caucasian is the default color for humans who aren’t named “Pondercherry.” Maybe that explains all of Johnny Depp’s white makeup.

Despite appearing in some beloved and moneymaking films, Shia LaBeouf seems…kind of unstable. Another Disney star gone wild, he began a downward trajectory in 2005 by assaulting a neighbor with his car, and later—a knife. Since then, he’s been involved in an array of embarrassing incidents, from obscene or racist outbursts, to drunk driving, threats, minor violence, and various combinations of these.

Earlier this year, LaBeouf was arrested and charged with ‘drunk and disorderly conduct.’ He fought with police and accused the cops of racist behavior, screaming that he was arrested by a black cop, “for being white.” Shia went on to declare that “black people go to hell.” Not sure what gave him that idea. Later, LaBeouf owned up to his behavior, calling it “a new low,” and saying he was “deeply ashamed.” He went on to admit his problems with addiction and his commitment to sobriety in the future. Time will tell, eh?

Honestly, who else could have possibly been at the top of this list? Mel Gibson’s name is now synonymous with racism. Between the overt anti-Semitic messages in The Passion of the Christ, and his various outbursts (some of which we were able to hear with our own ears), Gibson’s racism is a foregone conclusion. Shame, that. Who doesn’t want to like William Wallace? Besides the English anyway.

Narrowing Gibson’s many racist statements is not easy. “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world” is as baffling as it is offensive. Calling it “an unfortunate incident,” he excused himself, saying he was “loaded and angry.” Gross. Later, he infamously left a recorded message threatening his ex-girlfriend with “being raped by a pack of…” well, we’re not finishing that statement, last word starts with n, rhymes with diggers.  Just typing THAT out made me feel bad. The statement went on to explicitly say that what a woman wears is likely to inspire sexual assault. As a final insult, he called the releasing of his recorded rants a “betrayal.” Pardon us if we don’t weep for Mel.

White Nationalists Use DNA Test To Check 'Whiteness', Aren't All Happy With Findings

White Nationalists Use DNA Test To Check 'Whiteness', Aren't All Happy With Findings

A bunch of white nationalists in the US have been rushing to get genetic ancestry tests to show off their 'whiteness' only to find they're not as white as they thought and they're pissed off with the results.

team of sociologists analysed forum posts on Stormfront, a white nationalist website, for over two years - God help them, I bet that was fucking grim - looking in particular at how the members reacted to getting results from a genealogy DNA test.

These types of test are very popular in the US, not just with white supremacists, with people forking out about $100 (£78) to find out their genetic make-up.

Naturally, the white nationalists would be expecting and hoping to have only white, European ancestry, but around two thirds we're shocked and outraged to find African, Asian and Jewish genes.

Aaron Panofsky and Joan Donovan, from the University of California, who carried out the study, presented the results earlier this week, just days after the US was rocked by the clashes in Charlottesville.

The violent protests in Charlottesville saw white supremacists fight with anti-fascists. One woman, Heather Heyer, died after 20-year-old James Fields ploughed his car into protestors.

On Saturday, August 12, 2017, a veritable who's who of white supremacist groups clashed with hundreds of counter-protesters during the "Unite The Right" rally in Charlottesville, Va. Dozens were injured in skirmishes and many others after a white nationalist plowed his sports car into a throng of protesters. One counter-protester died after being struck by the vehicle. The driver of the car was caught fleeing the scene and the Governor of Virginia issued a state of emergency. (Photos by Michael Nigro) *** Please Use Credit from Credit Field ***

Upon finding out their genetic make-up wasn't white, white, white, some users rejected the results or discredit the tests calling them: "a Jewish conspiracy that is trying to confuse true white Americans about their ancestry," Panofsky told STAT News. Good grief.

He went on: "They will say things like, 'If you see a Jew in the mirror looking back at you, that's a problem; if you don't, you're fine'."

The study also found that some newer members were kicked out of the forum once their results revealed they weren't 100% white European.

However, Panofsky and Donovan also found that some of the critical responses to the test were the 'surprisingly sophisticated'.

Panofsky said: "If we believe their politics comes from lack of sophistication because they're unintelligent or uneducated. I think we're liable to make a lot of mistakes in how we cope with them."

James Alex Fields Jr. Left His Cat With Mom And Allegedly Plowed Into Crowd

James Alex Fields Jr. Left His Cat With Mom And Allegedly Plowed Into Crowd

James Alex Fields Jr. has been charged with second-degree murder among other crimes after allegedly plowing his silver Dodge Challenger into a crowd of counter-protesters in Charlottesville, Virginia, Saturday, and killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer in the process. What we know about Fields:

  • The 20-year-old from Maumee, Ohio, was photographed earlier Saturday with Vanguard America, a white supremacist, neo-Nazi group that the Guardian reports dresses in white polo shirts and khakis. The New York Times reports Vanguard America denied Fields is in any way a member and tweeted that wearing a white shirt does "not denote membership ... The shirts were freely handed out to anyone in attendance."
  • Fields' mother, Samantha Bloom, spoke on Saturday night and said that she was aware her son was headed to Virginia for a rally, but didn't know it was a white supremacist rally. "I thought it had something to do with Trump. Trump's not a white supremacist." She continued, "He had an African-American friend so..." then trailed off.

  • Fields and his mother had recently moved to Ohio from northern Kentucky, and one of his former teachers there recalls his experience with Fields to WPCO. Randall K. Cooper High School history teacher Derek Weimer says Fields "was very infatuated with the Nazis, with Adolf Hitler. He also had a huge military history, especially with German military history and World War II."
  • Bloom told the Toledo Blade her son moved into his own place in Maumee "five or six months ago" but texted her Friday to say he had left his cat at her apartment before heading to Virginia. One of Bloom's neighbors said she hadn't seen Fields' car recently, and says when she previously did see him he often had polka music blaring from the car.
  • The Times cites military records that show Fields enrolled in the Army on Aug. 18, 2015, but "his period of active duty concluded" just shy of four months later; it reports the reason why is unclear.

Woman Goes On A Racist Rant At A Target Store

Woman Goes On A Racist Rant At A Target Store

This happened in the North Hollywood, California Target
For Context:
1. The lady was screaming for a while before I started filming, guards and managers nicely asking her to leave.
2. Multiple store employees were on hold with the police for about ten minutes prior to the start of the video
3. The guard only stepped in physically when she started grabbing heavier objects to throw at customers. He withstood being sworn at, threatened, and spat on without protest.
4. Yes it took the guard a while to cuff her. That's because he was trying hard not to hurt her. It was easier to tell while there, but he was easily strong enough to crush her into the ground and subdue her, but he didn't want to risk an injury.
5. Yes, no one helped, but several people offered. Management continually refused, it seemed to be against policy.
6. I don't think the lady was on drugs, but if she was, she was also mentally ill. She talked a lot about terrorists keeping prisoners in a 'Flesh Cave' down in the basement prior to the video.

Florida Mayoral Candidate Has Racist Meltdown

Paul Congemi - a St. Petersburg, Florida, mayoral candidate - went on a racist rant during a debate on Wednesday. Telling people who wanted reparations that "President Barack Obama was their reparations". And if they were unhappy in America, "go back to Africa"

Despite him insisting his rant did not target "all African Americans", those same words have been said for decades against African Americans as a whole.

Walmart Apologizes For Describing A Product With A Racial Slur - Yes, That Racial Slur

Walmart Apologizes For Describing A Product With A Racial Slur - Yes, That Racial Slur

Walmart has issued an apology for a racial slur in the description of a product for sale on its Marketplace. Twitter user @Travon shared the news of a Jagazi Natural's Full Cap Weaving Net for sale on the website, with a description of the net as "n-word brown." Except the site, shockingly, spelled out the full word.

Not only is the descriptor unacceptable, it turns out that the net was actually posted by a fake vendor. Jagazi Naturals owner Chizo Onuh told the New York Daily News that her products have been copied and resold by Amazon and Walmart third-party sellers before. As Travon pointed out, the same cap was available on Amazon "listed minus a certain word."

Walmart swiftly moved on the situation with an apology to customers. Spokesperson Danit Marquardt commented, "We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace. It is a clear violation of our policy, and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened.

"Despite the apology, it's a surprise to Walmart customers that the product could have even appeared online without the brand's approval. But one person who wasn't surprised was Onuh herself. "Considering the fact that I'm a black woman from Nigeria, what really pains me is that I get these emails from other black people who are in pain because of that word," said Onuh.

As one Twitter user wrote, "I would hope there are several people in Seattle right now trying to figure out why their filters aren't working.

Walmart, do better.

Racist Lady At Walk-In Clinic Demands To See A White Doctor

Racist Lady At Walk-In Clinic Demands To See A White Doctor

Hitesh Bhardwaj videoed a lady whose son required medical treatment, at a Mississuaga, Ontario clinic — but only from a white doctor.

Extreemly rude and racist woman openly asking to see a white doctor who doesn't have brown teeth, who is born in Canada and who can speak English. Incident happened at around 12:30 PM on June 18, 2017 at Rapid Access to Medical Specialists (Clinic) in Mississauga, Canada

This genre of footage, the indelible record of naked public racism, is the Internet's only gift to the discourse.

Cheryl Teelucksingh, a sociology professor at Ryerson University, sees the incident as an example of the kind of "everyday racism" that is "beginning to resurface" in Canada.

She said some people are pointing to the election of U.S. President Donald Trump making people feel more comfortable saying things they normally wouldn't. But Teelucksingh thinks there's a more important factor: perceived multiculturalism, or the assumption by some Canadians that racial minorities are already treated equally across the country.

Black Worker Given These Items Before Getting Fired

Black Worker Given These Items Before Getting Fired

A black employee at a Bay Area-based construction firm is suing the company for racial discrimination and harassment, alleging that her supervisor gave her Confederate-themed gifts at a holiday party before firing her in March. Tishay Wright, a former project administrator at Southland Construction Management, claims the gifts were retaliation from boss and co-owner Kenneth Hayden after Wright objected to him calling her and another female employee “my bitches,” Courthouse News reports. According to SF Gate, the suit says Hayden stopped Wright from picking a present at an anonymous company Christmas exchange and handed her a special wrapped gift. Inside she found a Confederate flag-decorated purse with photos inside of Hayden dressed as President Trump sitting before a Confederate flag and posters reading “The Southland Shall Rise Again” and “Make Southland Great Again.”

“I couldn’t believe what I had received from my bosses,” Wright says. “It takes me back to slavery days. I am not a slave.” Wright claims she was fired in March after telling co-owner Anita Hayden that the gifts were inappropriate. The suit alleges further discriminatory workplace behavior by the Haydens, claiming that along with reducing her responsibilities after she complained about Kenneth’s language, the supervisors used racist rhetoric, including telling a Sikh intern to “go get your people before they blow something up" and often joking that Mexican workers could be paid in beer. Southland Construction has yet to issue a statement regarding the complaint filed on Thursday. “I kept being told by my family to not be afraid to speak up,” says Wright, who hails from liberal Berkeley, where she “never encountered anything like this.”

Woman Goes On Bigoted Rant Against Muslim woman - Now She's 'Famous'

Woman Goes On Bigoted Rant Against Muslim woman - Now She's 'Famous'

Racism and Islamophobia are as alive as ever in the ol' US of A—even in the free sample-filled oasis that is Trader Joe's. A young Muslim woman was recently in line at a TJ's in Reston, Virginia, when she let a blonde shopper cut in front of her in line. She soon regretted that, as the woman launched into a bigotry-fueled rant, complaining about another Muslim woman in the store wearing a niqab. And saying to the woman in line behind her: "I wish they hadn't let you in the country."

"Excuse me? I was born here," responded the young Muslim woman, who filmed the interaction. She then calmly urged the blonde woman to "get some help."

Comedian Jeremy McLellan, a friend of the woman who was harassed, shared the video with her permission on his Facebook page, asking people to help "make this lady famous":

The video has been viewed nearly 5 million times. So it looks like he got his wish.

In the caption, McLellan explained what happened:

A friend of mine (who wishes to remain anonymous) just sent this to me. I've confirmed that it's real. This happened today at the Trader Joe's in Reston, VA. This woman was in a hurry so my friend (who is a Muslim woman) offered to let her go in front of her in line. That's when she started talking bad about a different Muslim woman in the store (who was wearing niqab) and asking my friend why she didn't cover as well. My friend replied it was a choice and the woman didn't believe her and started talking about FGM and telling her "I wish they didn't let you in the country." That's when my friend started filming.

THERE IS SO MUCH WRONG WITH THIS VIDEO. Where do we begin? The Islamophobic bigotry? The rudeness of attacking someone who just let you cut in front of them in line? Blaming Obama? The grocery cart containing only one small bag of avocados???

Commenters tore the woman to shreds for all of it:

Many are pointing out the irony of the shopper insisting "I'm very normal."

If you see this woman at Trader Joe's, don't let her cut in front of you in line. And point out that anyone who hates immigrants has no business buying avocados.

Kudos, Jeremy McLellan. You did it. You her famous.

Racist Black Uber Driver Goes Off On A Passenger "You Are White, I Don't Mess With Your Kind"

Racist Uber Driver got mad at him for being white and not being able to handle her overwhelming air freshener. He rolled down the windows...

From the uploader: My buddy drove past her quickly and the Mazda is loud, she then chased him down he gave her the bird. She became super reckless driving down the strip. he pulled into building 21 where we were staying at mt Olympus In the dells, and was going to cycle back out to the street. But ended up cornering himself. I pulled in and this was where she was out of her car the first time and he backed out while I was behind her vehicle. Not sure why he stopped right there but he definitely was panicking. Cops were already on the way….When the 2nd video cuts in she’s on the phone with dispatch.

Did you hear how she plays the race card but then yells at the Hispanic Maintenance guy “MOVE MR.MIGUEL GO CLEAN SOME HOTEL ROOMS OR SHIT”

"One word says it all. Asian"

25 year law student with an AirBnB reservation in a California ski resort town (Big Bear? I don't know it personally)---was texting asking if she could add two more friends to the reservation and pay extra; AirBnB host said yes.

Then, having slogged through the slow and roads to get there (she needed chains on her tires)---when she went looking for the final details for location/entry---the host seems to have gone ballistic---and turned quite racist.

Not a happy video.
Found it somewhere else (can't remember where; SFGate?)--but the Gizmodo commentary is worth adding.

"Suh, who is enrolled at UCLA Law’s Critical Race Studies Program, said that she and her friends were uncertain where they’d find shelter for the night, their alarm exacerbated by an increasingly heavy snow storm. Luckily, they happened upon a KTLA 5 News van, populated by reporters doing a story on the snow. (California, amirite?)

Suh relayed the situation to one of the team’s reporters, who filmed the interview on his smart phone. The friends were eventually able to locate a “cute cabin after two hours of roaming around the snowy mountain,” Suh said.

The group may have made it to safety, but the viciousness of the incident will continue to haunt Suh.

“I’m an American citizen. This is my home,” Suh said during her interview with KTLA 5. “It stings. It stings that after living in the U.S. for over 23 years, this is what happens.”
