Chinese Woman Grounds Flight After Throwing Change Into Engine For Good Luck

Much like throwing uncooked rice at weddings is frowned upon because it will make birds explode after they eat it, throwing change into a plane’s engines is one of those things that will also chap a lot of people’s asses.

Especially those belonging to the authorities.

According to The Huffington Post, a Chinese woman in her 80s learned that the hard way yesterday when she reportedly threw coins into one of the engines on a China Southern Airlines plane because she thought it would be good luck.

Well, if by “good luck” she meant grounding the plane for five hours while airline officials tried to sort out what was going on, then her wish came true.

Only one of the coins the woman threw made it into the engine, but that was enough to delay the plane at Shanghai Pudong International Airport for five hours while she was detained by police.
