A 48-year-old Salt Lake City man was surprised to discover that he had apparently taken out a full-page, $900 ad in an Idaho newspaper in order to find a wife, theSpokesman-Review reports. The ad, titled “Looking for a Wife,” ran last Saturday in theCoeur d’Alene Press. The ad listed a litany of requirements for any prospective wives: 34 to 38 years old, attractive, “ready, willing, and able” to have kids ASAP, prepared to be a stay-at-home mom, willing to relocate, and more. It also added: “If you voted for Obama or plan to vote for Hillary, you are not for me.” The ad appeared to have been taken out by Baron Brooks, who owns two health food stores, but it said his father, Arthur Brooks, would be screening applicants this Saturday at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

“My father did this without my consent,” Brooks tells the Spokesman-Review. “I can’t even describe to you how embarrassing and ridiculous this is.” Brooks says his 78-year-old father, who lives in Beverly Hills, is “nuts.” “He just does weird stuff, and nobody knows why,” Brooks says. He says his father wants a grandson and may have chosen to look for a daughter-in-law in Idaho because of its conservative politics. Despite currently seeing two women, Brooks says dating is hard because it’s difficult to find a woman young enough to have kids. Maybe that’s why he says he plans to go ahead and let his father interview any wife applicants the ad receives. “Who knows, it can’t hurt,” Brooks says. “Who the hell knows? What am I supposed to do? He already did it.”
