Damon Wayans Calls Out ‘Lethal Weapon’ “Emotional Terrorist” Clayne Crawford
There’s a lot more drama in Fox’s fall slate than just the cancelation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and resurrection of Last Man Standing. An additional hubbub has been kicked up around the fate of Lethal Weapon, the fan favorite action/drama based on the popular film franchise. The show has been a consistent performer during its first two seasons, but its renewal hinged upon the fate of troubled co-lead Clayne Crawford. The actor was rumored to be a nightmare to work with, and the show was said to only be able to continue if Fox found a replacement in time. They did find that replacement in Seann William Scott, who will replace the fired Crawford in the upcoming third season.
Now with Crawford out and a third season secured, Lethal Weapon co-lead Damon Wayans has come forward with numerous accusations against his ex-co-star. In a string of tweets that have since become inaccessible due to Wayans taking his Twiter account offline, Wayans said that Crawford has a “file of infractions” against him, called the actor “UNINSURABLE!” and claimed that he “relished” in making women on set cry and made the cast and crew afraid. Wayans claims Crawford injured another actor by striking them in the mouth with a bottle of green tea.
The initial string of tweets kicked off with Wayans posting video of a stunt from an episode of Lethal Weapon directed by Crawford. Wayans was injured during the stunt, and he insinuates that it was intentional on the part of his co-star.
Topping it all off, he posted a photo of a flyer with Crawford’s image and the phrase “Clayne Crawford is an emotional terrorist” that was posted on the lot where the show is filmed.
Wayans signed off of Twitter, urging Warner Bros. to “#releasethetapes.”
Lethal Weapon will return to Fox on Tuesdays this fall with Seann William Scott taking the place of Crawford.
