Deranged Pastor Preaches Against Women’s Right To Vote And Work

Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona, is a man of principles. Unfortunately his principles are all taken literally from the Bible and are thousands of years out of date.

In a recently-uploaded YouTube video it’s clear how downright paleolithic those views are, as Anderson delivers a sermon in front of an ugly pastel mural, in which he rants about how women should obey their husbands and abandon all the gains they’ve made in the last century and more of human progress.

“Oh those horrible, horrible days when women had no rights … let’s bring em back. Let’s get back to those days,” says Anderson, whose church has been cited by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its virulently anti-gay teachings and has some truly awful Yelp reviews.

You see, Anderson explains, “women’s rights” is just code for all sorts of terrible things. He then proceeds to reel off a long list of utterly reasonable things like women’s right to divorce, disobey their husbands, or make their own money, freedoms that women in America have enjoyed for a very long time now, and which, outside of the godforsaken strip mall where Anderson peddles his garbage, are wholly uncontroversial.

For shame.

At least he’s not a hypocrite. He’s a christian. That’s the word of god right there. It’s not meant to be convent, it’s meant to be obeyed! Who are you to disagree with god?
