#FreeCyntoiaBrown Hashtag Demands Justice For Child Sex Slave Who Killed Abuser

Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian are demanding justice for a woman who has spent 13 years in jail, after she killed a man who held her captive as a sex slave when she was just 16 years old.

Cyntoia Brown was sex trafficked by a pimp named Kutthroat who physically, sexually and verbally abused her. She was then sold to 43-year-old Nashville realtor Johnny Allen.

But after being taken to Allen’s home, Brown grabbed one of her captor’s guns and killed him, as she feared that the former army sharp shooter planned to kill her.

However, despite the circumstances of the killing, she was sentenced to life in prison, with no parole for at least 51 years.

The case has received attention after a tweet showing Brown in court and detailing her case with the hashtag #FreeCyntoiaBrown went viral on Tuesday.

A number of celebrities and other public figures have now used the hashtag.

The attention comes after a documentary from filmmaker Dan Birman shone a light on the case and Brown’s ordeal.

“I’m glad we were able to start that conversation,” Birman told Fox 17. “How this turns out that’s going to be for lawyers, judges, governor and others to figure out.”

Brown’s pro bono attorney Charles Bone said Brown was surprised about the outpouring of support for her.

“I talked to Cyntoia about noon today,” Bone said. “She’s very shocked and surprised and thankful as we all are for the interest of these celebrities. In today’s world, we never know when you’re going to do a story that lights a fire.”

“Just to see all the people and all the different organizations who believe in me and who want to stand up for me, it’s humbling and mind blowing,” Brown said.
