Guy Asks Date To Leave Before Main Meal Because They Weren’t Good Looking Enough

Modern dating is a minefield of lost love, rejection and those wonderful highs when you meet someone and click.

Never have the brutal realities of meeting ‘The One’ been thrown into such sharp perspective on British reality TV than on last night’s episodes of First Dates.

Fred was poised to set the scene for romance but then this happened:

As other happy daters created lasting bonds, viewers cringed as one date crashed and burned at the hands of a brutally honest man.

Rob, a 28-year-old bar landlord who aspires to be ‘respectful and well mannered’ proved during his date with Grieg that he is anything but respectful and well mannered.

After taking an impolitely long cigarette break post-starter, Rob returned to the restaurant to deliver Grieg this blow:

It sounds really bad, but I don’t find you attractive – you’re a really genuine guy, and we seem to get along but I don’t have that connection with you, so what’s the point of staying and having dinner and main courses, you know.

A visibly shocked Grieg, in the face of such brutal honesty, quickly paid his half of the bill and left Rob to eat his steak alone, in a potential foreshadowing of the rest of Rob’s life.

Grieg, who seemed like a stand-up bloke, later told the cameras: ‘You’ve come for a blind date, you’re there together to have a laugh and a giggle – don’t be a dick, see it through, buy a dessert.’

I’m all for cutting through the small talk, but Rob has really taken the biscuit here.
