Is This Inappropriate? Model Has YouTube Account Censored For ‘Inappropriate’ Content

A plus-sized model has encountered cruel censorship on her fashion videos after they were labelled ‘sexually explicit’ by YouTube.

One of model Gabriella Lascano’s recent videos was placed under an age-restriction wall, as the online video platform deemed it ‘unsuitable’ for all viewers.

The innocent upload shows Gabriella wearing a tight-fitting, low-cut dress which is revealing but by no means ‘explicit.’

The fashion blogger then changes into a very conservative turtleneck top and cardigan, without an inch of flesh on show, the Mirror reports.

I promise. If you ever thought I was shading you, I wasn't. I don't think 'bout you at all♒️??

Despite YouTube’s classifications, the video is simply one of many, where fashion vloggers upload their latest buys to show their followers what they look like and how they fit.

Gabriella said:

I was really excited; it’s my most watched video.

I have been watching it grow and it’s just been such a source of joy and such an accomplishment for me as well as helping me make money and just grow my social networks.

Unfortunately for her though, the site wasn’t happy about her post and sent her a threatening message.

It read:

Your video…was flagged for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it may not be suitable for all viewers and has been placed behind an age restriction.

It also outlined that the site was not for ‘violent, graphic or humiliating fetishes,’ which needlessly shamed and embarrassed Gabriella even more.

She explained:

It really bothers me, first of all, that my video would be seen as fetishised or pornographic or sexually explicit in any way because it definitely was not.

Clearly my audience is teenagers and older, but it does not mean that my videos in any way, shape, or form are ‘rated R.’

It’s obvious that because of my size I’m seen as actually explicit when I’m playful, even if I’m fully clothed, and it’s not fair that I’m being punished for something that I can’t control (my breast and butt sizes).

The successful fashion influencer, who boasts 60k followers on Instagram and 22k on YouTube, is outraged she might not be able to share her videos, simply and brutally because of her size.

She said:

For so long I felt like I had no place in the professional career world because of my size.

I have seen firsthand how my size has influenced my ability to get hired for professional-setting jobs and finding YouTube and social media as a platform and as a means of making money was such an amazing thing for me, and now I feel like I’m not even accepted here.

It’s sad that people should be made to feel that they can’t express themselves in a way they want to, regardless of their body shape and size.

Perhaps this was just a mistake on YouTube’s part and Gabriella will be free to post as much as she likes in the future…
