Judge Yells At Police During His DUI Arrest

A judge in New Jersey apparently thought he was immune to a drunk driving arrest simply because of his position — and it appears he might have been right. Dash-cam footage from the November 2016 incident shows part-time judge Wilfredo Benitez repeatedly hurling obscenities toward the arresting officers.

He called one officer “a d**k” for putting him in handcuffs. Police pulled Benitez over after he was found asleep behind the wheel at 2 a.m. At first, the judge said he was on his way home after taking his daughter to school, though he later said it was his son. Even though he said he had not been drinking or taking drugs, the officers decided to perform a field sobriety test on Benitez, who told the cops, “What are you trying to do? I mean, I’m a judge.”

The DWI charges against Benitez were ultimately dropped due to flaws in the investigation.
