A Georgia man was arrested after becoming violent when his wife made his grilled cheese too cheesy, WSB-TV Atlanta reports.

James DePaola, 55, requested two slices of cheese. His wife, Michele DePaola, 51, used two. Enraged by all the cheese, DePaola became violent and screamed at her so intensely her face became covered in his spit, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

The 12-year-old daughter, who now not only will have severe daddy issues, but grilled cheese issues, became terrified and called 911 from her mother’s cell phone, saying that her dad had ripped their landline off the wall and hit her mother.

The police say that James DePaola admitted ripping the phone from the wall because he didn’t want his wife to call the police for a “stupid” reason. However, parties maintain he didn’t hit her – this time.

From WSB-TV:

When police arrived on the 100 block of Candy Circle, police spoke with Michele DePaola, 51, who said James DePaola has a history of violent and abusive behavior that has involved him being arrested and served with a restraining order in the past.

Michele DePaola told police it’s been a while since he’s been physically violent with her, but often becomes angry, shouts, curses and is often excessively critical and controlling of day to day things in life.

Michele DePaola said even though he was very upset and animated with the grilled cheese incident, she doesn’t believe he was going to hit her because he was too afraid of going back to jail.

James DePaola was charged with obstruction of a 911 call and criminal trespass/damage to property.

Leave this man, now. And reinstate that restraining order. Not only does he beat you, but he believes there is such a thing as too much cheese. He’s obviously a wife-beating sociopath beyond rehabilitation.
