Man Records Himself Falling Into Pond While Playing Pokémon Go

Since you couldn’t possibly be tired of hearing about Pokémon Go, here’s another story: A guy fell into a pond while live-streaming video of himself playing the game. So there’s that.

On a high from catching the all too common Rattata, Twitch streamerI_Play_Too_Much_Gragas mentions heading to a nearby lure. In pursuit of capturing the finest of Pokémons, the stream abruptly ends — but not before his phone is submerged and he’s heard uttering an ominous, “Holy shit I didn’t know that was water.”

“Remember to be alert at all times,” the app’s loading page reads. “Stay aware of your surroundings.” It should go without saying that too many people are definitely not heeding this warning. After all, the game’s only been out for five minutes and kids are running up on loaded guns and catching bodies.  Oh yeah, and getting robbed at Pokéspots (beacons where users can get extra items and experience points, if you care to know).

And if this guy wasn’t detestable enough, instead of deleting his social media and hiding in shame like any person with an ounce of humility would do, he took to Reddit to announce he was the “idiot in the video” and provide an update on his waterlogged Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+.

“MY PHONE IS WORKING. Also I caught that Rattata so…. #worth,” he wrote.

Another Pokémon-related casualty is sure to occur in no time. Which, if it happens to someone who brags about catching a basic ass Rattata, I’m oddly for.
