Man Tries To Stab And Run Over Former Boss

A Florida man is accused of stabbing his boss with a knife and trying to run him over after he was fired from his job, according to police.

Police say they almost never knew about the attack, which was caught on camera.

After Renaldo Mendez fired Osorio Reyes for drinking on the job while repairing AC units, Reyes threatened to kill his boss and allegedly tried to follow through when Mendez agreed to meet him.

“Two men who wanted to settle a dispute the old-fashioned way, I guess,” said Carl Zogby with the Hialeah Police.

When the two met, Reyes jumped out of his truck, wielding a knife in hand.

Mendez tried to kick the knife out of Reyes’s hand, and then he ran away. He also picked up a rock to defend himself and hit Reyes with it.

As Mendez tried to call for help, Reyes got in his truck and ran his boss over.

“The fence saved his life because he bounces off the fence,” Zogby said.

Reyes then tried to run over Mendez again.

Zogby says Mendez is fine and didn’t even want to press charges. Police only found out about the attack when the warehouse owner called about his torn-up fence.

“He didn’t even call the police. When it was all said and done and the bad guy fled, the victim drove himself to the hospital, limped back to his car after they treated him and went home. He is recovering and in pain, but he is fine. But he got lucky because he could have died three times that day,” Zogby said.

Reyes is now in jail, facing a second-degree attempted murder charge and a possible life sentence.
