Maryland Man Tries To Bribe Officers With Doughnuts

A Maryland man apparently thought he could stay out of jail by bribing police officers with doughnuts. The Frederick News-Post reported that Matthew Tyler Rosenberg, 25, told the officers who detained him that he worked at Krispy Kreme and would give them doughnuts if they let him “just go home.” Rosenberg reportedly made the offer several times to different officers, but all the ended up with was an added charge of attempting to bribe a public employee.

The News-Post said Rosenberg also offered an officer money. The trouble began for the suspect when a detective approached him and another man as they walked along a street, looking into parked cars. The detective grew suspicious and when he eventually approached the man, Rosenberg began to walk away. Responding officers struggled with Rosenberg, according to police documents obtained by the News-Post. A search of Rosenberg after his arrest turned up an air pistol and a small bag of marijuana, at which point Rosenberg first offered the officers doughnuts. Rosenberg was also charged with resisting arrest. The man he was with was not charged.
