People Reveal The Pettiest Things They’ve Ever Been Venmo’d For
Now that we are officially living in the future, we can request and send money right on our smartphones using the the Venmo money sharing app. And just think, only a decade or so ago I was afraid to put my last name on the internet— now all my banking information, my social, and many embarrassing pictures of me in high school are saved online! Whoopee!
What is the most unreasonable Venmo request you or a friend has ever received? (I am inspired by a guy who unexpectedly Venmo’d his friends the next day for the cost of the food he cooked them for dinner.)
Group potluck. We all brought sides and wine (some even brought entrees). Friend cooked one main dish, which was burgers sous-vide. Machine wasn't working. We waited two hours to eat near raw burgers. Got venmo-ed the next day for the meat.
College roommate, who went on to sue his mom for investing his trust fund with Bernie Madoff, charged a friend $1.07 for a slice of pizza. "The seven cents is for the taxes." Friend reimbursed him with a check made out *to the roommate's parents*.
I was charged for a glass of wine I drank (it was $12 wine), when invited over to dinner. Kicker, I also brought wine but chose to drink some of the bottle already opened that was offered to me. I left $19 wine with dinner invitees.
Went on a 1st date & the bar he chose was packed. We went to a different one, and he didn't tell me it was cash only. I said I'd need an ATM; he said he'd pay for my drink. He sent me a Venmo charge immediately after we ordered.
Long before Venmo or the Internet existed one of my family members hosted a dinner party. At the end she asked each guest to look under their placemat, where they found a bill for the meal.

Friends had a wedding reception in Vegas and table service at a club afterwards. Too many people for the table, my wife was pregnant and secretly not drinking, fine, we had a drink and left. Next week the groom sent everyone a spreadsheet with how much we all owed for the table.
