Pet Owner Kills The Man Suspected Of Poisoning His Dog

A man accused of killing dogs with poisonous darts has died after a ‘furious owner slammed him into a brick wall with his car’, it’s been reported.

According to the Metro, the dog owner was arrested and charged with manslaughter. He is now awaiting trial. It’s reported that the pet owner had had his dog killed by the man.

The deceased man had been accused of killing six dogs using the darts in the Chinese city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu province.

Footage, caught by a security camera, has since been posted online showing a man on a scooter shooting a dog with a dart gun before fleeing the scene.

The dog’s owner is believed to have heard his pet crying and approaches the dog to find it paralysed.

He then hop into his car and begins chasing the man on the scooter, before catching up to and slamming the man into a pillar and through a brick wall.

According to Yangzhou City Police, the man died at the scene and the owner was hauled in for questioning.

However, the driver’s family have spoken out to say that the man ‘got the pedals confused’ as he was driving his car and didn’t meant to ram the man on the scooter.

A relative of the dead man, said: “Even if we were in the wrong, that does not give you the right to be judge, jury and executioner.”

In December last year, police seized 200,000 poisoned darts, which could have been used to fire at dogs. The Telegraph reported that the dead dogs are then often sold on for meat in restaurants.

Eight members of a gang which had been selling the darts were sent to prison following the discovery.

Wendy Higgins, from the Humane Society International, told the paper: “The use of poison to catch dogs for the meat trade is a cruelty that very often sees people’s beloved pets targeted, and the animals involved can suffer enormously.

“The dog meat trade in China is organised, large scale and facilitated by crime, with as many as 20 million dogs and four million cats killed every year, so stopping the gangs involved is a major step in the right direction.”
