Pokemon-Inspired Poké-burgers Are A Real And Creepy Thing In Australia

Start training your stomachs

Stop everything you’re doing. A burger joint in Sydney has just created Pokémon burgers.

Down N’ Out (Australia’s tribute to popular US  burger chain In-N-Out) created the Pokémon-inspired delicacies, modelled on three of the cartoon’s most loved little creatures.

Meet Pikachu, Bulbasaur and Charmander.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL! Ever wondered what a Pikachu tastes like? Us neither but considering we can't catch one to save our lives, were more than happy to let this be as close as we get to having our very own. @hashtag_burgers have just announced that after weeks of experimenting, they will be releasing a limited release of Pokemon burgers at their @downnout_ popup as this weeks special… and they taste every bit as good as we've come to expect from these lads. The Charmander, with its red American cheese and Doritos, is our favourite but they'll all blow you away. Plus they're freakin' adorable! Head to the @downnout_ page for deets and we will see you in line. Gotta catch 'em all! #pokemongo #sydneyfood #fbas

The edible dreams were created by Down N’ Out’s creative director (what. a. job) Ben Kagan.

Burger trainers aren’t able to decide which one they want – they receive a randomly selected one after ordering.

Which is fair enough, because it’s not like you can just decide when and where you want to catch a Charmander, y’know?

That’s not how the Poké-life works.

Each burger flavour was carefully thought out by Kagan, to match the personality of its anime counterpart.

And comes with a trading card listing the ingredients.

Oh, and if you’re wondering where Squirtle is – the burger brains just couldn’t get the bun to come out blue. Sorry about that.

The secret is OUT! This weeks special is going to be HUGE! ???? tag a mate who would bite Pikachu's face off.

‘The flavours and the ingredients match the Pokémon’s style, character and colour. The Charmander is a little bit spicy, there’s kind of a volcanic cheese dripping off it,’ Ben Kagan from Hashtag Burgers told Mashable Australia.

‘The Bulbasaur is grassy and cleaner, but it tastes like a Big Mac actually – which is quite nice. The Pikachu is a bit sillier, with our ‘tiger fries’ through it.’

Each burger costs AUD$15 (approx £8.70) and is available until September 3.

Last minute flight to Oz, anyone?
