Police Trainer Tells Students They’ll Have Great Sex After They Kill Someone
A new documentary that shows how police departments in the United States are operated and how officers are trained at one point shows a police trainer telling a class that one of the few “perks” of the job is the awesome sex you get to have after shooting and killing someone. For anybody who has been paying attention to the uproar over police shooting and killing unarmed people (often times black men) and not getting punished for it, this may strike you as problematic.
The documentary, titled “Do Not Resist,” shows a class being taught by Dave Grossman, whom The Washington Post describes as “one of the most prolific police trainers in the country.” Grossman is apparently all about turning cops into “warriors,” something they really aren’t supposed to be. He wants police officers to be more willing to use lethal force, because obviously that’s what the problem has been all along. You always hear folks complaining that cops don’t kill people often enough.
At one point in the class Grossman tells his students that the sex they have after killing someone will be just the greatest. “Both partners are very invested in some very intense sex,” Grossman says. “There’s not a whole lot of perks that come with this job. You find one, relax and enjoy it.”
There are actually quite a few perks to being a cop, for what it’s worth. Healthcare and paid sick leave, for example. You’re in a position of authority. You get a gun to shoot people with and rarely get indicted for murder even when you’re caught on film killing an unarmed person who wasn’t threatening your life. Some may call it a thankless job, but it always seemed to me like cops got way more thanks, respect, and praise than say janitors or any random person working in an office.
Oh, and on top of all that, maybe don’t tell people good things will happen to them after they kill someone. It sort of comes across as you encouraging them to kill someone.
