A man takes a "selfie" as he stands with a Ukrainian flag on a Soviet-style star re-touched with blue paint so it resembles the yellow-and-blue national colours of Ukraine, atop the spire of a building in Moscow

Because enough people in Russia have actually died while staging dangerous selfie scenarios, the government stepped in with a handy guide on how to stay alive while snapping a self portrait with your phone. CNN reported that their have been 10 selfie-related deaths and about 100 injuries in the past year related to the kind of elaborate and dangerous staging people have put into a goddamn picture. One of the more extreme examples involves a woman who accidentally shot herself in the head while taking her own picture.

We knew narcissism is annoying, but damn if it isn’t deadly as well.

Authorities had no choice but to act in the wake of the growing pile of selfie induced dead bodies and issued a brochure advocating for safety and good judgment for those who can’t keep their damn faces out of a camera.

“A cool selfie can cost you your life,” stated the brochure produced by the interior ministry and handed out to students earlier this month. The pamphlet is well-intentioned, but goddamn if the illustrations aren’t some of the most ridiculous things you’ve ever seen in your life.

Surely, there’s truth to the scenario that it’s dangerous to pose with a gun to the head while taking a selfie, but when you see it drawn out like this, I mean, come on.

In keeping with the fact that a woman died from falling off a bridge while posing for a selfie, the brochure then put together all the possible daredevil scenarios an amateur photographer might coordinate.
