Russian Senator’s Hair Has Completely Mesmerised The Internet

Russian Senator’s Hair Has Completely Mesmerised The Internet –

We see some pretty wild stuff in this lovely digital plane which we call the internet, and sometimes it’s easy to take it for granted.

But every once in a while, something pops up on your timeline which just makes you sit back and take stock of the beauty of the online world and say out loud, ‘God I love the internet’.

This Russian senator’s hair is just the latest in a run of such online gems, and just think 99 per cent of us wouldn’t even have seen it were it not for social media.

This is Valentina Petrenko, a Russian senator and chair of Russia’s Committee on Social Policy, and she has an absolutely incredible hairstyle.

While Twitter have been busy re-noticing this bond villain-esque hairdo, people in Russia have been wondering about the sheer physics of the do for ages.

In 2015, she was asked such a question in an interview with the Echo of Moscow, in which she said:

I’m so tired of answering these questions. I just have curly hair. I lift it upwards with some hair pins, that is all.

And while she looks like one of the henchmen of Dr Evil, she’s actually known as one of the officials who negotiated the release of child hostages from gunmen in Rostov-on-Don in 1993.

She received a medal for ‘Personal Courage’ for her efforts to negotiate with four gunmen who kidnapped the children and a teacher and packed them into a helicopter filled with explosives, according to Newsweek.

The kidnappers released some of the hostages over several days after some of their demands for a military helicopter and $10 million in cash were met.

After the helicopter stopped to refuel, the two remaining boys were released as a direct result of negotiations involving Petrenko in which she offered herself as a replacement hostage.

Eventually, the replacement kidnappers were caught, and no civilians were harmed during the whole incident. So there’s a pretty good brain under that bonnet.
