‘Saved By The Bell’ Sex And Drug ‘Secrets’ Leaked By Producer

If you thought the most PG thing about Saved By The Bell was Jessie Spano’s legendary caffeine pill breakdown, you may want to think again.

Peter Engel, the executive producer of the show, has revealed the cheating scandals and drug secrets of the show’s less than squeaky clean cast and crew.

The memoir claims Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, who played Kelly Kapowski, dated both Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zac Morris) and Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), whose characters fought over her on the show.

Engel confirmed the love triangle, but said Thiessen only got with Mark-Paul after they split on SBTB, before moving on to Mario in 1991, the Mirror reports.

But, she ended their relationship after she caught him cheating.

Engel wrote: He was in his dressing room, making out with an extra, and Tiffani came in, catching him red-handed.

She was wearing his letter jacket and, in a rage, ripped it off and threw it at him. After that, she ran out.

Engel also revealed he was a drug addict who got clean in 1979, ten years before the show aired.

He wrote:

“Monday through Friday, I would wake up and smoke two joints, pop speed to get through work, snort a gram of cocaine, and take a handful of Quaaludes to fall asleep.”

He also admitted character Jessie Spano’s massive freak out on Saved By The Bell was meant to be a lot darker.

He said: What fans don’t know is that, when I originally wrote the episode with Tom Tenowich, Jessie was hooked on speed, not caffeine pills. But Standards and Practices, the censorial department at NBC, vetoed it saying speed was too serious for Saturday mornings.

So they compromised. The solution? A Saturday-morning-friendly caffeine addiction.
