Shaquille O’Neal Crashes Car During Cop Chase, Steals Man’s Wheelchair To Get Away

Sad day in sports news today as police in Largo, Florida, said Shaquille O’Neal was arrested after crashing a car during a chase with officers and stealing a man’s electronic wheel chair to continue his getaway.

Wow, he sure looks different.

Police say the 21-year-old O’Neal was pulled over while driving a Mercedes 250 on October 25, but took off eastbound on East Bay Drive, side-swiping a white car and a school bus. Wait a second. “21-year-old”? Isn’t Shaq older than that? That would mean Shaq was only like a year old when “Kazaam” came out in 1996. That can’t be right. He looked at least like at least mid 20s. Huh.

According to WFLA, Shaq continued driving and crashed into two more cars. Robert Druce, a veteran, witnessed the crash and observed the basketball star lying on the road. Druce offered Shaq his electronic wheel chair to sit in until ambulances arrived, which the former Laker used to continue to run from authorities, until he was finally stopped a few blocks later.

Clemons was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked or suspended license, reckless driving with property damage and injury, and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and injury.

Weird thing is, Shaq just gave an interview with Esquire where he said he’s not afraid of getting pulled over by police because “he shows respect.” He’s also a reserve officer in the LAPD. That seems pretty weird, for a guy who is so deferential to cops to lead them on a car chase. And why would he need to steal a wheel chair? He’s got super long legs. He could probably run faster than one of those wheel chairs goes.

Oh wait. Says here the guy who was arrested was Shaquille O’Neal Clemons. Different guy entirely. My bad.
