Shocking Moment A Convicted Murderer And Burglar Attack Cops With A Hammer

A convicted murder has been jailed for life after a hammer attack on two police officers that was likened to a ‘horror film’.

Bodycam footage captured Jamshid Piruz, 35, lashing out at constables Jessica Chick and Stuart Young during a break-in in Crawley, West Sussex, the BBC reports.

He pleaded guilty to burglary and two counts of attempting to cause GBH with intent and affray at Hove Crown Court.

“I have never been so scared in my life,” PC Chick told the court. PC Young, who was hit in the neck during the attack, described it as ‘akin to a horror film’.

Piruz had previously served six years of a 12-year term imposed in 2007 for killing his female tenant in the Netherlands. He locked her in a room before slitting her throat.

The court heard that when he arrived in Britain in December 2015 to visit his relatives, he then missed his return flight home from Gatwick Airport on January 4th, 2016.

He was then arrested and prosecuted for assault after spitting at an EasyJet staff member who told him that he had to buy a new ticket.

After being ordered to pay compensation by the courts he went on to burgle garages across Crawley.

Police were called on January 7th after a member of the public saw Afghan-born Piruz attempting another break-in, which led to the brutal attack on officers.

The constables attempted to taser him three times, but it was ineffective as he was wearing thick clothes.

Simon Blackford, defending, said his client was remorseful and ‘suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder’ after seeing his parents murdered by the Taliban, aged 11.

Jailing Piruz for a minimum of six years, Judge Jeremy Gold QC said: “This was an incident of truly terrifying violence, the officers were in fear of their lives.”

He added Piruz suffered ‘acute psychotic episodes’ and told him: “You are potentially a very dangerous man.”
