Skittles Announces ‘Rotten’ Flavored Zombie Candy

In honor of the impending 2019 Halloween season, Skittles is introducing all-new Zombie Skittles.

When Harry Potter was still new to the world of witchcraft and wizardry, he came across a box of Bertie Bott’s Every-Flavor Beans. His friend Ron Weasley quickly warned him about the candy that “when they say every flavor, they mean every flavor.” There are chocolate and peppermint, but also spinach and liver and, as Albus Dumbledore later mentioned vomit and ear wax. Even amid those imaginary beans, even J.K. Rowling may not have dreamed up Skittles’ latest flavor—rotting human flesh. When Skittles says “taste the rainbow” they mean it, apparently.

“Our fans love Skittles not just for its delicious fruity flavors, but for the irreverence and sense of humor for which the brand is known,” Skittles Senior Brand Manager, Mars Wrigley U.S. Rebecca Duke said in a statement. “This Halloween, we wanted to give our fans the ultimate rotten twist on the candy they know and love, challenging them to test their bravery over a bag of Zombie Skittles.”

New Zombie SKITTLES® candies hit U.S. store shelves this Halloween

The flavors inside each bag of Zombie Skittles include Petrifying Citrus Punch, Mummified Melon, Boogeyman Blackberry, Chilling Black Cherry and Blood Red Berry. However, as indicated on the packaging, “Most taste delicious but some taste like rotten zombie.”

Those who wish to indulge in the gruesome treats are encouraged to also participate in the #DareTheRainbow Challenge by recording themselves tasting the hidden zombie flavor and sharing the experience on Instagram. It’s no use trying to cheat, either, because the flavor will only reveal itself after you’ve started to chew.

Zombie Skittles will be available at retailers across the U.S. in Share Size, Lay Down and Fun Size bags.
