Things have been kind of slow on the teacher-student sex scandal front the last few months. That being said, this story has a twist that we’ve never seen before that will more than make up for it. In fact it has a couple of twists.
Tanya Ramirez, a former King High School teacher in Texas, was arrested and charged with having sex with not one, but two students. That we have seen before. That’s not the twist.
The first twist comes in the fact that despite admitting to having sex with one student and pleading “no contest” to having sex with the second student Ramirez will serve no jail time. ZERO. NONE. NADA.
Reports KRIS6 News…
As part of her plea, she was sentenced to seven years of probation. She will not have to register as a sex offender or serve any jail time.
Ramirez agreed to give up her teacher’s license in the deal, but her lawyer said she will appeal.
Her defense argued both the student and Ramirez were consenting adults. The legal age of consent in Texas is 17.
But wait, as they say, there’s more. So much more.
Not only is Ramirez getting off with no jail time, get this… she’s suing the mother of one of the students for defamation!
Again, from KRIS6 News…
Tanya Ramirez claims the student’s mother, Kimberly Tademy, went around to various media outlets last year, including KRIS6 News, and called Ramirez a “sexual predator” and accused her of sleeping with other students as well as her son.
Ramirez claims the statements caused her emotional distress and led to her losing a job at a local Jiu Jitsu academy.
We’ve also learned that Ramirez may sue the student for invasion of privacy, claiming it was the student who filmed their sexual encounter and then shared it.
Of course he did.
So to summarize her reason for suing: she was arrested for sleeping with two students and one of the moms called her a “sexual predator.” That’s so shocking! Oh, but she lost her job at a Jiu Jitsu academy because of it? Well then, that changes everything.
