In Pocatello, Idaho, a 15-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly threatening to shoot up his high school after female students refused to send him nude photos.

The unnamed student sent Highland High School into temporary lockdown Wednesday after he allegedly sent threatening text messages that surfaced on social media. According to KIDK, the student was arrested on charges of threatening violence at a school and telephone harassment. The local Fox News affiliate posted screenshots of the student’s incriminating texts:

The texts laid out the student’s alleged plan of shooting  female students before killing himself in the school weight room. The student receiving the texts tried to talk the suspect out of it.

“This,” the friend texted, “over freaking nudes? Dude.”

“Some kid who was having attention problems with specifically the cheerleaders didn’t get nudes,” another student, Isaac Gomez, told KPVI. “He was asking for some inappropriate things.”

The suspect apparently has a history of disturbing behavior, especially when it comes to using social media. The teen was known to harass female students via Twitter and make racist remarks, even threats against President Obama.

Although little is known about the boy’s mental state, this incident is another example of how internalized misogyny and male entitlement regarding sex with women can rear its head in horrifying and alarming ways. Teen girls suffering violence or threats of violence after rejecting a boy’s example is, sadly, nothing new. In 2014, 16-year-old Maren Sanchez was stabbed to death by a classmate after turning down his prom invitation.

Suspect who caused school lockdown is in custody

Update 10/08/15 6:10 p.m.: The Pocatello/Chubbuck School District and Pocatello Police Department worked in partnership to investigate a threat of harm to a student or students. The threat was posted on social media and was reported to school officials this morning.

The District and Police Department have completed their investigation. A suspect is in custody and is being held in the juvenile detention center.
