Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking died in March of this year at the age of 76. He was instrumental in the science community and made several discoveries about black holes and the universe.
Rapper XXXTentacion was shot dead in his car in South Florida six months ago. He had recently rose to music prominence with hot rap singles, but at the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial for a 2016 domestic-abuse case. He faced charges of aggravated battery of his pregnant girlfriend, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and witness tampering.

World-renowned chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain was found dead in his hotel in June in what was ruled a suicide. Bourdain had a well known history with drugs and a rough life to stardom, but he was loved by many and his death was devastating to a lot of people.

Rapper Mac Miller died of an overdose of drugs and alcohol in September. The Pittsburgh native was only 26, but had been very open about his problems with substance abuse.
Swedish DJ and producer Tim Bergling, known by his stage name Avicii, died at the age of 28 in what was later determined to be suicide.
