On Sunday at about 11 am, 28-year-old Anna Kealey booked an Uber ride to meet her friends for brunch in the Hackney borough of London, England. When the car was a couple minutes away, Kealey canceled her order. She then received a disturbing voicemail, which she saved and passed along toBuzzFeed News.

The upsetting voicemail is from a pissed off Uber driver who called Kealey an “idiot” multiple times before threatening “I’ll cut your neck” if she ever cancels a ride again after he had already driven to her neighborhood.

“The irony is I cancelled the cab because I occasionally get panic attacks,” Keaney told BuzzFeed. “And right after I called it, I began to feel anxious so I decided to walk instead to calm myself down and tell my friends that I would be late.”

Fortunately Keaney didn’t hear the message while she was in an agitated state. Instead, she heard it while catching up on voicemails on Wednesday during a break from work.

“It completely shocked me. The language is so inappropriate, threatening, and disgusting,” she added. “It’s extra scary since I ordered it right by my house. It makes me feel so unsafe.”

Kealey took Uber to task publicly on Twitter, and they responded by offering to aid the police with their investigation. She also passed the voicemail along to the ride-sharing service.

An Über rep then issued a statement to BuzzFeed:

“We have spoken to the rider to ensure they are OK and encouraged them to report this the police. The driver has been immediately suspended, as is our policy, and we are investigating fully.”

Fortunately, Kealey emerged from the situation without being physically assaulted. The same could not be said for the female passenger in Los Angeles who was thrown onto the pavement by an angry driver and called “a f*cking bitch.” And never mind the myriad sexual assaults female passengers have endured from Uber drivers.
