Vine Is Officially Dead, We Mourn Vine With The Best Vines Of All Time

Twitter announced Thursday that Vine, the six-second loop video app that further diminished the planet’s already paltry attention span, would be discontinued in the coming months.

For the time being, the site will remain online, and users will be able to download their videos to make sure their six-second masterpieces are not lost to the world.

Twitter acquired Vine in 2012 to fill a gap in video social media sharing, but the launch of Instagram video in 2013 hurt its growth potential. Word of Vine’s demise came just after Twitter announced it’d be laying off 350 people, or about nine percent of its workforce.

RIP Vine. I personally have never Vined, but I saw some, and so did my co-workers. We share some of our favorites:
