Woman Instagrams ‘That View Tho,’ Falls Into Grand Canyon

A Florida woman plunged to her death just hours after Instagramming a photo of the view from the South Kaibab Trail while hiking at the Grand Canyon.

The body of Colleen Burns was found by rangers some 400 feet below Ooh Aah Point, where hikers often take photographs of the stunning view at sunrise. Burns herself took such a photo, uploaded to Instagram accompanied by the caption “That view tho.”

Speaking to WESH, Burns’ friend Jessica Roman described how only hours later, the 35-year-old lost her footing and fell into the canyon.

“She was stepping out of the way for another gentleman to kind of squeeze in, and unfortunately, Colleen kind of got tripped up on her own feet and fell backwards, fell into the canyon,” Roman said. “That was the longest, strangest, craziest two seconds of my life.”

An investigation into Burns’ death is ongoing. Tributes were made to Burns on her Instagram page, as well as by musician DJ Kaskade, of whom Burns was a big fan.
