Woman Says Policeman Told Her To Remove ‘Rude Message’ From Back Of Car

A woman says a police officer told her to remove a rude message on her car’s rear window.

Liz Hatfield has a sticker on the back of her Corsa which reads: “Go on small dick, pass me” for the past 15 months.

She said it has popped up on social media numerous times after shocked road-users have spotted it and that it often attracts surprised looks from members of the public.

But it’s not just members of the public who have seen the message, as Liz, 48, said she has been visited by a police officer who has asked her to remove it.

She told the Huddersfield Examiner: “He turned up last night some time between 8pm and 10pm and told me he was personally offended by it. He was really intimidating and I was absolutely fuming.

“He said he would be passing my house three to four times next week and would be issuing me with a public order ticket if I hadn’t taken it down. He said it was ‘personal’.”

However, despite the threat of a ticket, Liz is defiant, telling the paper: “I’m not going to take it down. Why should I?”

She has previously told the paper that ‘dick’ is actually a reference to her partner Richard – and that the message is there for him to see, should he ever be caught in traffic behind her.

Speaking to Huddersfield Examiner in February, she said: “It was a private joke in case my partner was driving behind me.

“People have taken it as something else and I’ve left them to it.”

This isn’t her first brush with the law over the sticker – she told the paper: “When I first put it up I received a phone call from an officer at Normanton Police Station near Wakefield.

“When I told him to look at my Facebook account and explained that my partner was known as ‘Dick’ that was the end of it.”

She added that although she’s aware some men make take offence to the sign, she is still not going to remove it. Looks like Huddersfield Police have got a battle on their hands, here.

The paper also reported that Liz has a second car, a Volkswagen Jetta which has a sticker that reads: “Faster than a smackhead’s giro.”
