✨✨ #30secondbeforeandafter ✨✨Inspired by my amazing friend and #bbgsister @thefitnessfootfiend and the beautiful @workoutbean, I decided to post a #keepitreal selfie! NOT a progress pic!! But showing what a big difference posture and flexing can do! I also have the awesome secret ability to push my stomach out to look like I’m pregnant. I do it all the time actually for fun, it’s my own form of entertainment hahaha. But in all seriousness, it’s no surprise we like to post the best photos/ versions of ourselves online, but that’s not the only side to us! I promise you, no one is perfect. We all have weaknesses, and we all have days where we don’t have those perfect ab lines, thigh gaps, etc. And you know what, it’s about time we show all sides of us! The real side of us. So I challenge everyone to do this tag! And show the world out there how real we really are. #bbg #bbggirls #bbgcommunity #bbgsisters #bbgaustralia #bbgmelbourne #bbgfitfam #melbourne #melbournefitness #melbournegirls #fitnessfamily #fitnesssisters #bikinibodyguide #kaylasarmy #kaylaitsines #sweatwithkayla #bbgmelbcrew #bbgfitfam #bbgaustralia #bbgdreamsquad #fitness #fitnessfamily #fitnesssisters #transformation

You know all those before and after pictures you see on TV and in ads splashed across the Internet? Hell, they’re everywhere. Especially on Instagram, a place where you probably shouldn’t spend much time if you’re looking for things based in reality.

Well, some ladies on Instagram have figured out that all it takes to make those impressive “progress” photos is basically holding your breath and flexing a little.

Using the hashtag #30secondbeforeandafter these women show what a huge difference basically just sucking it in does for one’s physical appearance in the half-a-second it takes to snap a photo.

So the next time you see one of those photos and start to feel bad about yourself, take the whole thing with a grain of salt. Preferably on a few deliciously wonderful french fries.

Check out a few of the best examples I found…

? 30 second transformation ? I wasn’t going to post this as I found it pretty confronting! But then I thought that’s a good reason to. There are just 30 seconds between these photos and some adjusting of my shorts! I scroll through so many inspirational pictures of skinny and fit girls who are showing their best photos, it shouldn’t but sometimes it gets me down about my own progress. So this serves as a reminder, that every #bbg girl is working extremely hard and you shouldn’t be so hard on yourself when comparing to some amazing photos, they may not look that way all the time (or they very much may but you are working on it)!! After my little sulk about these pictures I went and smashed some LISS and my full body workout ?????? #thekaylamovement #bbg #bbggirls #bbgcommunity #kaylasarmy #motivation #fat2fit #deathbykayla #transformation #fitfam #bbgfamily #sweatwithkayla #fitness #healthy #healthylifestyle #healthychange #bbgsupport #bbgbeginner #bbgaustralia #30secondtransformation #selfdoubt #staypositive #30secondbeforeandafter

⚡⚡ NOT a progress picture ⚡⚡So, I was stretching after #bbgweek16 abs tonight and my post chocolate-covered raisin/popcorn/sushi/beer belly was rolling over the top of my leggings and my hubby said laughing “You should post THAT on your instagram”. And he’s right. ? I do NOT walk around with superwoman abs all day and I don’t know if I ever will. What I DO know is, both of the girls in this picture did 200 mountain climbers today. Both girls did 80 toe touches. Both girls ate lots of yummy goodness and regretted nothing. I love both of these bellies! ? I first saw the #30secondbeforeandafter tag by Jera @workoutbean (one of my all time favorite accounts) several weeks ago and this is my third post. The message behind it: don’t get caught up or discouraged by comparing your body/progress/life with others through social media. Lighting, poses, flexing can make all the difference. Social media can be an amaaaazing source of community and inspo, BUT the important thing is that we stay hungry, work hard, support eachother, and together, we can do anything. #bbgfamily #bbgforlife #bodypositive #womenempoweringwomen

Woke up this morning feeling thin and lean. All probably because of #BBGisFedUp. I went to take a picture and then thought, I shouldn’t only take pictures when I’m feeling lean because that’s not accurate. I don’t go to work on days that I feel productive, if only. Here’s a #30secondbeforeandafter for @melissa.bbg who is incredibly supportive and motivating to me. Thanks @workoutbean for creating this tag and keeping it real in the #bbgcommunity. I did my best to stand as if I were in an annoying line at Disneyland or something in the left picture ? tagged ladies join the challenge of you’d like, but have a great day and never skip a Monday! #bbgweek6 abs and arms ? 271 cal. Can you tell I was brain dead?

This is NOT a progress photo! After seeing the post of amazing @workoutbean and being tagged by gorgeous @thefitnessfootfiend, I decided to join in and #keepitreal #30secondbeforeandafter ?. After the recent social media madness on how unreal social media is, I thought it was fitting too. On the first photo, I’m standing in the most relaxed position possible (hips forward, shoulders down, tummy fully out) and on the 2nd photo, taken right after, my body is tensed everywhere! As you can see, I usually tense in most of my abs photos..Ta dah! #truthcomesout ?! But some days are great (or the lighting is) and I barely tense, and some others (like today) I feel bloated, heavy and sluggish even flexed. In the end, I think social media is as real as their user wants it to be. I try to keep my posts as real as possible, though yes I try to make my photos look good (especially food ?) but that’s just because I love to do it and it is reflective of ME in real life. My account is a way for me stay to accountable in my fitness journey but it is also like my own canvas where I can let loose, be creative and share what I like. So be real and be you ❤ and stay focused on all what you’ve achieved! Also a #morningabs for @hannahrosefit @annadohuynh @queencitybbg @torie.alexandra @ekfbbgjourney. Tagged, wanna share you #30secondbeforeandafter ??

⭐️⭐️ not progress pics! ⭐️⭐️ Soooo saw this on @strongisthenewskinny94 and @workoutbean ig and had to do the #30secondbeforeandafter challenge… It’s true good lighting and posture Defo helps with progress pics.. 1. It makes us feel good that we can look like that 2.who doesn’t want to share their hard work progress Pic on the left I am breathing out as much as i can.. Bad posture,slouching.. Not how i stand on a regular day.. Pic on the right is how I stand, tall, and holding abs in ( it’s hard when your constantly holding them in to actually “let go”) There is so much #bodyshaming on in the world, calling people fat, or lazy, seems to be an easy thing for some people to throw around, never knowing the emotional damage they are doing to someone. We all #workout to be fit and healthy, it’s a lifestyle choice.. We don’t do it for anyone else I know j scroll through my feed and still think.. “I wish I looked like that” but we all have a journey, we will all get there.. And we will all become the version of who we want to be not who we are expected to be #love #fit #fitfam #fitness #fitnessjourney #nobodyshamecampaign #challenge #abs #notperfect #gymlife #girlswithtattoos #girlswithmuscles #girlswholift

⚡⚡️⚡⚡️️️JOIN THE CHALLENGE! Use hashtag #30secondbeforeandafter ⚡⚡⚡️️⚡️️ ? these photos were taken seconds apart ? this is NOT a before and after. Yesterday I saw a post by Becky (@strongisthenewskinny94) comparing two photos of her, side by side, taken only seconds apart and it really got my attention. I decided to do the same thing. In the photo on the left, I’m sticking my stomach full on out, my shoulders are hunched forward, and my legs are pushed together. On the right, I’m standing up straight and in a more flattering pose and flexin’ those abs ✋? we create our own reality, we decided what show others, and we believe what we allow ourselves to believe. Lighting, poses, environment are all elements that construct this visual and social space of ours. It’s fun to show the highlight reel, but especially in relation to the BBG community, I think it’s also important to share our lil nuggets of reality even if it’s not so glamorous. Balance is key. Let’s have fun, be a lil silly, show off dem muscles, and #keepthatshizreal

As you can see, results may vary, and they’re all fake.

Hell, even guys can do it too.

God love social media.
