2016-07-28_1649

Everything from the late 1990s is back in style, including Donald Trump, Clintons running for the presidency of the United States, and Pokemon. Taking a cue from current pop culture, MTV is bringing back old school TV shows to appeal to the masses.

Starting on August 1 at 6 a.m., Viacom’s VH1 Classic will be rebranded as MTV Classic.

The new channel will focus on the late 1990s and early 2000s programming, including TV shows, music videos, and music specials.

Your favorite old school television shows are coming back! That will include Daria, Beavis & Butt-Head, Aeon Flux, Laguna Beach, Run’s House, The Real World, Road Rules, Pimp My Ride, Cribs, Jackass, Punk’d, Wonder Showzen, Clone High, and more.

There will also be memorable episodes of MTV Unplugged, including Bob Dylan, Alice in Chains, Erykah Badu, Oasis, Neil Young, and Nirvana.

“From Beavis & Butt-Head to Laguna Beach, MTV’s programming vault is a music and pop culture gold mine with universal resonance,” MTV president Sean Atkins said. “MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and, alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU, rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core.”

The change comes on the 35th anniversary of the launch of the original MTV.
